02Overview
A first look
By late afternoon, the Nile turns copper beside the sun deck, with the riverbank sliding past as guests settle into shaded seating or watch the water from a lounge bar. Inside, the rhythm is unhurried: meals are served on board, cabins are refreshed daily, and sailing days give way to shore excursions at places such as Karnak Temple, Edfu, and Philae.
Discovery Tours Egypt carefully selects and arranges the vessel, with our Egyptologists coordinating the shore program and our team confirming each practical detail before you board.

Children must share a cabin with their parents, maximum one child per cabin; two or more children require their own cabin. High chairs and children's cutlery are generally available on request, subject to the vessel's stock and availability.
Accessibility
Who can join this
This cruise involves boarding via gangway at the port, walking across the vessel's public areas, and accessing cabins that may have one or two small steps at the threshold. Expect uneven stone or paved surfaces on shore excursions, cobbles at the Valley of the Kings and steps at temple entrances such as Karnak and Kom Ombo. The vessel has staircases to the sun deck and pool; some cabins are only reachable by stairs. Wheelchair users should note that most Nile cruisers do not have full lift access and narrow internal corridors limit turning space. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and can request a cabin on the lowest accessible deck where available, assist with embarkation and disembarkation, and arrange additional porterage. Please contact us before booking to discuss mobility needs, bring a companion if you require transfer assistance, and allow extra time for boarding and security screening at ports and archaeological sites.
– Responsible travel
How we travel here
The cruise uses diesel-powered river vessels typical for the Nile, and transfers arranged by us use air-conditioned minibuses that meet local road-safety standards. We work directly with the cruise line and local suppliers to reduce single-use plastics on board, including compostable amenity packaging where available. Food for the onboard kitchens is sourced regionally from Luxor and Aswan growers when the supplier can provide verified local produce, which shortens supply chains and supports local farmers. Crew recruitment and shore-excursion guides are hired locally, with tip distribution managed according to the vessel's published policy. We monitor waste-management practices at the ship and encourage suppliers to segregate recyclables and to use licensed port waste facilities. As a licensed Egyptian tour operator, we share best-practice guidance with partners and ask suppliers to report on measurable actions, for example reductions in single-use plastic or hours of local employment created, before we renew seasonal contracts.

Farah Nile Cruise
We include an Egyptologist on every departure rather than a driver-guide; that keeps commentary focused and consistent throughout the cruise. Unlike shared coach day trips, the vessel sails overnight so you gain two mornings ashore and more relaxed transfer times. Trade-offs: cabins are compact, mornings can start early, and walking is on uneven ancient stone at many sites. Standard site entrance fees are included; gratuities and premium tombs are excluded.
