02Overview
A first look
You are on a beach vacation and you want to see the real Egypt. This tour does it in three days and returns you to your Hurghada hotel at the end. A private driver takes you to Luxor, about five hours by road, and you spend the afternoon at Karnak and Luxor Temple. The next day is the West Bank, then a flight to Cairo. On day 3 you visit the Giza Pyramids and the Sphinx, ride a camel and fly back to Hurghada.
These are full days. The drive is long and the flights are set by the airline schedule, so sightseeing is arranged around them. An English-speaking Egyptologist guide, the entrance fees and the transport are included on every sightseeing day. You choose the standard of the two hotels when you book. Your flights to Egypt and your resort stay are not part of this tour.

Day by day
Detailed itinerary
3 Days / 2 Nights · Hurghada · Luxor · Karnak Temple · Luxor Temple · Valley of the Kings · Hatshepsut Temple
- 1
Your private driver collects you from your Hurghada hotel for the drive to Luxor, about five hours. It is a long start to the day, so sit back and watch the road give way to the green Nile Valley. Once in Luxor, your Egyptologist guide takes you to Karnak, Egypt's largest temple complex, with its forest of columns and the Sacred Lake. Then you visit Luxor Temple, beside the river.
The guide, the entrance fees and the transport are included. The sightseeing is arranged around your arrival time. You sleep in a Luxor hotel.
- 2
After breakfast you cross to the West Bank with your Egyptologist. You see the Valley of the Kings, with three tombs included, the mortuary temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari, the Colossi of Memnon and the temple of Ramses III at Medinet Habu. The guide, the entrance fees and the transport are included.
A transfer takes you to Luxor Airport for the one-hour flight to Cairo, and a driver meets you there and takes you to your hotel for the night. The flight time depends on the airline schedule, so the sightseeing is arranged around it.
- 3
After breakfast your private Egyptologist collects you from your Cairo hotel for a half-day on the Giza plateau, about four hours. You walk among the Great Pyramids, stand face to face with the Sphinx and take a coffee or tea break. Then comes a 20-minute camel ride, with your guide helping you on and off and taking photographs. The guide, the entrance fees and the transport are included.
You then transfer to Cairo Airport for the one-hour flight to Hurghada, and a driver takes you back to your resort. This tour ends at your Hurghada hotel; the tour does not include your resort stay.

Field notes
From our Egyptologists
- 01
The drive from Hurghada to Luxor is long, so settle in with water and a charged phone for the road.
- 02
At Karnak, take a moment by the Sacred Lake, where the scale of the complex is easiest to appreciate.
- 03
Wear closed, comfortable shoes for the Valley of the Kings, where paths are rocky and tombs involve steep steps.
- 04
Ask your guide for the best spot on the Giza plateau to photograph the Pyramids with the Sphinx in view.

Accessibility
Who can join this
This tour involves a lot of walking on large archaeological sites, with uneven stone, sand, steps and narrow tomb passages in the Valley of the Kings. Karnak and the West Bank have long outdoor stretches with little shade. The road from Hurghada to Luxor takes about 5 hours, and the tour includes two domestic flights. The vehicles are private and air-conditioned, but we cannot promise wheelchair access at every site. Tell us your needs when you book and we will tell you honestly which parts are suitable.

How we travel here

Sightseeing is guided by local Egyptologists and arranged through local suppliers in Luxor and Cairo, so most of the money you spend stays in the places you visit. We ask guests to carry a refillable water bottle and not to touch painted walls in tombs.

Asked & answered
Frequent questions
01Where does the tour start and end?
It starts at your hotel in Hurghada and ends back there on day 3. Your resort stay and your flights to and from Egypt are not part of the tour.02How long is the drive from Hurghada to Luxor?
About five hours each way in a private vehicle. We take the drive on day 1, and the return trip is by air from Cairo, so you do not drive back.03Are the flights included?
Yes. The flights from Luxor to Cairo on day 2 and from Cairo to Hurghada on day 3 are booked for you and included. Flight times follow the airline schedule, so we arrange sightseeing around them. International flights are not included.04Will I make my international flight?
The tour returns you to your Hurghada resort, so you rejoin your vacation and there is no connection to catch. If you plan to fly home right after, that is a risk: domestic and international tickets are separate bookings, and a delayed flight on day 3 could cost you the connection. Leave a margin of a night, take travel insurance that covers missed connections, and ask us before you book.05Is this tour tiring?
Yes, it is three full days. Day 1 is a five-hour drive followed by two temples, day 2 is the West Bank and a flight, and day 3 is the pyramids and another flight. It suits visitors who are fit and comfortable with early starts.06What is included in the sightseeing?
On every sightseeing day an English-speaking Egyptologist guide, the entrance fees and the transport are included. Entrance includes the Sacred Lake at Karnak, three tombs in the Valley of the Kings and the Giza plateau with the Sphinx.07Do we go inside the Great Pyramid?
No. The Giza visit covers the plateau, the pyramids from outside and the Sphinx. Going inside the Khufu pyramid is an extra ticket that is not included.08Which hotels will we have?
You choose a standard when you book, from budget to luxury, and we name the hotels for your dates. There is one night in Luxor and one in Cairo, and the sightseeing is the same at every standard.09What meals are included?
Breakfast is included on days 2 and 3. Lunch and dinner are not included on any day, so you can eat where you like along the route.
