02Overview

A first look

You are on the Red Sea and Cairo is one short flight away. This tour takes you there for two nights and brings you back to Sharm El Sheikh on day 3. A private driver collects you from your resort hotel and takes you to the airport. In Cairo you walk Al-Muizz Street and Khan el-Khalili on the first afternoon, spend day 2 at the Giza Pyramids, the Sphinx, Saqqara and Memphis, and finish with a morning at the Grand Egyptian Museum before you fly back. An Egyptologist guides every sightseeing stop, and your entrance fees and transport are included. The days are full, so come ready to walk and to start early.

Field notes

From our Egyptologists

  1. 01

Cover shoulders and knees on Al-Muizz Street and carry a scarf in case you step inside one of the mosques.

  2. 02

Bargaining in Khan el-Khalili is expected; start well below the opening quote, stay friendly, and walk on if it does not suit.

  3. 03

At Saqqara, spend time in the painted tomb reliefs near the Step Pyramid; they are often quieter than the Giza plateau.

  4. 04

Travel light for the Grand Egyptian Museum half-day; larger backpacks may have to be left at the cloakroom.

Tailor it

Make it yours

Choose your hotel standard when you book. Ask us about adding a night in Cairo, a Nile dinner cruise or a longer Egypt tour.

All requests handled by your dedicated specialist before booking.

Suited to

Is this for you?

Yes, if

  • Travelers already staying in Sharm El Sheikh who want to see Cairo's highlights in a short trip. Suited to couples, friends and families with school-age children who can walk for several hours.

Maybe not, if

  • Travelers who need step-free access to every site, or who want a slow pace. Days 1 and 2 are full.

Honest assessment

Real trade-offs from our experience managing this tour.

Highlights

  • Pyramids, Sphinx, Saqqara, Memphis and the Grand Egyptian Museum in three days
  • Both flights and every transfer handled for you
  • Back at your Red Sea resort on day 3

Things to Consider

  • Busy, with a walking tour on arrival and an eight-hour day at Giza
  • Uneven ground and little shade at the main sites
  • Only two nights, so little free time in Cairo

Where it fits

A good fit for a Red Sea vacation that needs a Cairo break. It does not include a Nile cruise or Luxor; ask about longer tours.

Worth knowing

How this compares

Many Sharm El Sheikh day trips to Cairo are very long. This tour adds two nights in Cairo, so the Islamic Cairo walk, the pyramids day and the museum each get their own time. Flights and transfers are booked for you.

Children & families

Children are welcome. Every child takes a seat in the vehicle, so transport and guiding are charged at the adult rate at any age. Entrance tickets are free for children under 6 and full price from 6. Hotel prices depend on the child's age and the room used, so we give you the exact figure when you tell us the age at booking. The days are long, so this tour suits school-age children better than toddlers.

Accessibility

Who can join this

This tour involves a lot of walking: the cobbled lanes of Islamic Cairo, the uneven ground and sand around the pyramids, and long galleries and stairs at the museum. The Giza and Saqqara day is eight hours and mostly outdoors with little shade. The vehicles are private and air-conditioned, but we cannot promise wheelchair access at every site. Tell us your needs when you book and we will say honestly which parts are suitable.

– Responsible travel

How we travel here

The tour uses two domestic flights and private road transfers, and the vehicle type can vary, so we do not claim a carbon saving. Sightseeing is guided by local Egyptologists and arranged through suppliers based in Cairo, so most of what you spend stays in the city you visit. We ask guests to carry a refillable water bottle and to leave monuments untouched.

  • Licensed Egyptologist guides

State-licensed, and people we have worked with for years

  • Fair wages on the ground

Drivers + guides paid above market

  • Site preservation

We follow the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities' site rules: marked paths, no touching reliefs

  • Local teams, real help

Our own offices in Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, Hurghada, Marsa Alam and Sharm El Sheikh

Asked & answered

Frequent questions

  1. 01Are the flights from Sharm El Sheikh included?
Yes. The flight from Sharm El Sheikh to Cairo on day 1 and the flight back on day 3 are booked for you, with 23 kg of luggage and taxes. Flight times are set by the airline. International flights are not included.
  2. 02Do you collect me from my Sharm El Sheikh hotel?
Yes. A private driver collects you from your hotel and takes you to Sharm El Sheikh Airport, and another transfer brings you back to your hotel after the return flight. Your resort stay itself is not part of the tour.
  3. 03How many hours do we spend at the pyramids?
Day 2 is an eight-hour private tour covering the Giza Pyramids, the Sphinx, Saqqara and Memphis, with lunch in the countryside. It is a full day, so wear comfortable shoes and bring water.
  4. 04Which Cairo museum do we visit?
The Grand Egyptian Museum, beside the Giza plateau, on the morning of day 3. The visit lasts about four hours with an Egyptologist and includes the Tutankhamun galleries and the Khufu solar boat.
  5. 05Is this tour too rushed?
It is short and busy by design: two nights, a walking tour on arrival, a full pyramids day and a museum morning. If you want a slower pace, ask us about adding a night in Cairo.
  6. 06Will I make my international flight home?
This tour ends with a flight back to Sharm El Sheikh, so you rejoin your resort stay and no connection to a home flight is involved. If you leave Egypt on day 3 or soon after, leave a generous margin. Domestic and international tickets are separate bookings, so a delayed flight can cost you the connection. Take travel insurance that covers missed connections.
  7. 07What is not included?
International flights, your Sharm El Sheikh resort stay, the Egypt visa, tips for guides and drivers, drinks and meals other than those stated, and optional extras such as going inside a pyramid.
  8. 08Which hotel will we have in Cairo?
You choose a standard when you book, from budget to luxury, and we name the hotel for your dates. The sightseeing is the same at every standard.
  9. 09Is the tour private?
Yes. Your Egyptologist and driver are private to your group on every sightseeing day.
