Egypt Honeymoon Tours

Egypt makes an extraordinary honeymoon destination precisely because it doesn't feel like anywhere else. Your honeymoon could open with private sunrise access to the Pyramids of Giza, move to a luxury dahabiya drifting past Karnak and Edfu under stars with barely anyone else on board, and close at a Red Sea villa where the reef is ten steps from your terrace. Our Egypt honeymoon tours are built around couples: private guiding throughout, priority booking for sunrise slots, and the kind of logistical detail (room upgrades, rose-petal setups, restaurant reservations) that makes the difference on a trip this significant.

The hallmarks

The hallmarks of an Egypt honeymoon

Egypt is an extraordinary honeymoon destination precisely because it doesn't feel like anywhere else. Picture starting at the Pyramids of Giza at 5:30am with a private gate-open arrangement – ninety minutes on the plateau before any other visitor, just the two of you and your Egyptologist. Then drifting south on a 6-cabin dahabiya, sailing under canvas past Edfu and Kom Ombo with dinner on the sundeck under stars.

Closing days at a Red Sea villa with the reef ten steps from your terrace, or at the Sofitel Old Cataract in Aswan where the Death on the Nile film's Agatha Christie suite waits with a Nile-facing dinner on the terrace. Sunrise pyramid access, dahabiya seating, rose-petal turn-downs, restaurant reservations – all arranged by the planner at no extra charge.

How to choose

How to choose your Egypt honeymoon

Three pillars decide a honeymoon shape. Each choice changes the trip's character substantially.

Your style of cruise

A dahabiya (6–12 cabins, sail under canvas) is almost always the right choice for honeymoon – the privacy and pace of a small sailing vessel make every other element of the trip better. The 5-star Nile cruise ship (Oberoi Philae, Sanctuary Sun Boat IV – 40 to 60 cabins) is the right answer if you specifically want a pool deck and a faster sailing schedule. Read more on our dahabiya page.

Your decompression

Two routes after the temples. The Red Sea villa (Marsa Alam or El Gouna, reef-front terrace, private plunge pool) is the most-booked honeymoon closer. The Sinai option (Dahab, St Catherine's Monastery, Mount Sinai sunrise) suits couples who want adventure rather than beach. Or extend the Nile itself – a 7-night dahabiya instead of a 4-night sailing.

Your signature moments

Each honeymoon gets a handful of these built in. Private sunrise at the Pyramids (5:30am gate-open, ninety minutes alone on the plateau). Hot-air balloon over the Valley of the Kings at dawn (4:30am liftoff, champagne breakfast on landing). Felucca sunset in Aswan past Elephantine Island. Dinner on the dahabiya sundeck under stars between Aswan and Edfu.

  1. 9-Day Cairo, Luxor and Dahabiya Nile CruiseMid

9-Day Cairo, Luxor and Dahabiya Nile Cruise

    Cairo

Start in Cairo with an Egyptologist at the Giza Plateau, the Great Sphinx and the Grand Egyptian Museum. Fly to Luxor for a full day on both banks of the Nile: the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon in the morning, then Karnak and Luxor Temple. After a night in Luxor, transfer to Esna and board your dahabiya, a traditional two-masted sailing boat that carries a small group of guests. Over four nights you visit the temples of Esna, Edfu and Kom Ombo, with full board on board, before disembarking in Aswan for Philae Temple, the High Dam and the Unfinished Obelisk. A flight takes you back to Cairo for your last night. Dahabiyas embark on Mondays, so this tour starts on a Friday. We arrange the hotels, the dahabiya cabin, the flights and every transfer through trusted local partners.

In Cairo, visit the Giza Plateau, the Sphinx and the Grand Egyptian Museum with a professional Egyptologist. In Luxor, explore Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple and the Valley of the Kings before sailing south with calls at Edfu and Kom Ombo. The itinerary also includes Aswan, with Philae Temple, the High Dam and the Unfinished Obelisk. Abu Simbel can be added as an optional extra. Practical questions

What travelers ask about this style of tour.

  1. 01Is Egypt a good honeymoon destination?

Yes – particularly for couples who want something genuinely different from a beach resort. The combination of world-class ancient monuments, a private Nile cruise (one of the most romantic settings in travel), and high-quality Red Sea resorts means you get both cultural depth and pure relaxation in one trip. We design the split between culture and coast based on what you want.

  2. 02How much does an Egypt honeymoon tour cost?

Prices on this page currently start from $1,708 per person (8 days, two people sharing); each card shows its own from-price. Sunrise pyramid access, dinner under sail, and rose-petal turn-downs are at the planner's discretion at no extra charge. International flights from the US are separate.

  3. 03What's the best Egypt honeymoon itinerary?

Our most-booked honeymoon shape (10 days): 2 nights Cairo at Marriott Mena House with private sunrise Pyramids access → fly to Luxor for the East and West Banks → 4-night dahabiya cruise (6 cabins max, sail under canvas, dinners on deck) → 3 nights Red Sea villa at Marsa Alam or El Gouna. Tailored variants swap the Red Sea segment for Sinai, add Alexandria, or extend to a 14-day fortnight.

  4. 04When is the best time for an Egypt honeymoon?

October through April for the comfortable Cairo / Luxor / Aswan weather window. Late October and early November combine peak Nile water levels with quieter cruise traffic – that's the planner's recommended pick. December and January are coldest at night (good for honeymooners who want the temples without sweating); April aligns with one of the prettiest weather windows in Upper Egypt. We don't run honeymoon southern itineraries in July or August by default.

  5. 05Are dahabiya cruises better for honeymoons than standard cruise ships?

Almost always, yes. A dahabiya is a 6–12 cabin traditional sailing vessel – your cruise becomes effectively private to your party plus a handful of other couples. The standard 5-star Nile cruise ship carries 120–200 guests with set meal seatings and a faster sailing schedule. Dahabiyas moor at quiet bank sites the big ships can't reach (Silsila, El Kab, Hagar Silsila), dinners are on the sun deck under stars, and the pace is set by wind not engines. Price premium: 60–100% above ship.
