02Overview

A first look

By late afternoon, the Nile turns copper beyond the panoramic windows as Tiyi Nile Cruise leaves the bank, and the lounge bar settles into the quiet rhythm of river sailing. Between Luxor and Aswan, the vessel's sun deck, dining room, and cabins give you space to watch villages, palms, and changing desert light from the water. The vessel sails weekly in both directions, with sailing days alternating with shore excursions to Karnak, Luxor Temple, Edfu, Kom Ombo, Philae, and the Valley of the Kings.

We select and arrange your cabin and cruise place, with full board from lunch on embarkation day through breakfast on disembarkation day. Our licensed Egyptian tour operator team coordinates the shore-excursion program, so your Egyptologist can put each temple into context while you enjoy the river at an unhurried pace.

Accessibility

Who can join this

The vessel has steps between the main deck, dining room and sun deck, and many cabins are reached by short stair flights rather than ramps. Embarkation and disembarkation use a gangway with handrails; guests with limited mobility should expect a steep gradient when boarding at smaller river jetties. Shore excursions include uneven ancient stone, soft sand, and short staircases at temples and tombs, and several sites have narrow doorways. Wheelchairs can be stored onboard but full independent wheelchair access at all sites is not possible. Tell us your mobility needs when you book so we can arrange a lower-deck cabin where available and coordinate assistance at ports and on excursions.

Before you go

What to pack & wear

What to bring

  • Valid passport and a photocopy, kept separately
  • Comfortable walking shoes with good grip
  • Sunscreen SPF30 or higher and a broad-brim hat
  • Lightweight layers for cool mornings and evenings
  • Reusable water bottle (you may refill with bottled water onboard)
  • Small daypack for shore excursions
  • Any prescription medication, with a copy of the prescription

What to wear

  • Lightweight, loose-fitting daytime clothing in natural fibers
  • Covered shoulders and knees for temples and mosques
  • A light fleece or jacket for cooler mornings on the Nile
  • Comfortable closed shoes for temple approaches and tomb terrain

Children & families

Children 0 to 5.99 years travel free; children 6 to 11.99 years pay 50% of the adult fare; children 12 years and older pay the full adult price. Children must share a cabin with their parents, with a maximum of one child per cabin. Two or more children require their own cabin. Cots or foldaway beds are subject to availability on the assigned cruiser; strollers are practical for hotel or port areas but are not useful on narrow temple approaches or inside tombs.

Responsible travel

How we travel here

We arrange a Nile cruiser selected for fuel-efficient diesel engines common to modern river vessels, and excursions use compact coaches (Mercedes Sprinter or similar) rather than large coaches where road access is restricted. Crew, guides and suppliers are locally employed; our bookings support permanent staff in Luxor and Aswan and local Egyptologists who lead shore excursions. Waste management practices vary by vessel, so we request guests minimise single-use plastics and return glass or recyclable items to marked bins onboard. When possible we include visits to community-run projects and markets that provide direct income to local families and artisans.

  • Licensed local Egyptologists

    ETAA-credentialed, on payroll

  • Fair wages on the ground

Drivers + guides paid above market

  • Site preservation

We follow MoTA visitor caps and no-touch protocols

  • Carbon-aware itineraries

Domestic flights only when train/road is impractical
