A first look
By late afternoon, the Nile turns copper beyond the panoramic windows as the Renaissance Nile Cruise leaves the riverbank and the engine settles into a steady rhythm. Between sailings, the sun deck, lounge bar, and dining room give the day an easy pace, while your cabin provides a quiet place to watch villages, palms, and desert pass by.
Our shore-excursion program brings the river’s landmarks into focus, from Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple to the Temple of Horus at Edfu, Kom Ombo, Philae, and the Valley of the Kings. We select the sailing, arrange your cabin and shore excursions, and place our Egyptologists alongside you at each site.

Board at Luxor and enjoy lunch on board before visiting Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple on the East Bank.

Explore the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon, then begin sailing south towards Edfu.

Visit the Temple of Horus at Edfu and the double temple at Kom Ombo, then sail on to Aswan.

Visit the High Dam, Philae Temple and the Unfinished Obelisk. An optional flight or drive to Abu Simbel can be arranged.

A relaxed day at Aswan: sail by felucca around Elephantine Island and Kitchener’s Island, or visit a Nubian village, before the vessel turns north.

Board your Nile cruiser at Luxor and settle into your cabin over lunch. In the afternoon visit Karnak Temple, the largest religious complex of ancient Egypt, and Luxor Temple on the East Bank.

Cross to the West Bank for the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari and the Colossi of Memnon. The vessel then begins sailing south towards Edfu.

Visit the Temple of Horus at Edfu, the best-preserved temple in Egypt, then sail on to Kom Ombo and its double temple dedicated to Sobek and Haroeris. Continue sailing to Aswan, where the ship moors for the night.

The ship lies moored at Aswan. Guests visiting Abu Simbel leave before dawn, by road or by air, for the two rock temples Ramesses II cut into the cliff, returning aboard around midday. The afternoon is at leisure on board.

After breakfast, disembark at Aswan. The morning then covers Aswan itself: the High Dam, the Temple of Isis at Philae reached by motor launch, and the granite Unfinished Obelisk, before your onward transfer.

Children & families
Children 0–5.99 years travel free, 6–11.99 years pay 50% of the adult fare, and children 12 years and above pay the full adult price. Children must share a cabin with their parents, with a maximum of one child per cabin; two or more children require their own cabin. Strollers are practical on board but may be difficult to use at some landing stages and temple approaches because of steps and narrow ramps. High chairs are not guaranteed on every cruiser; please request specific child equipment at the time of booking so we can confirm availability with the cruise supplier.
Accessibility
Who can join this
The vessel and its shore-excursion program require a moderate level of mobility. Expect steps to enter and exit the cruiser, cabin thresholds, and narrow gangways at some docks. Historic sites visited, including the Valley of the Kings and Karnak Temple, have uneven stone surfaces, steep staircases, and limited handrails. Wheelchair users can access some public areas on board, but most Nile landing points and temple approaches are not wheelchair-friendly. We arrange assistance at embarkation and disembarkation when requested, and we recommend traveling with a companion if you need physical support. Please tell us about mobility needs when you book so we can plan suitable assistance and select the most accessible cabins where available.

We prioritise local suppliers and low-impact practices on board and ashore. The cruiser is typically staffed by locally employed crew and uses diesel engines common to Nile river vessels; we request that partner lines follow engine maintenance schedules to limit fuel inefficiency and oil leaks. Transfers to and from embarkation ports use air-conditioned minibuses with drivers contracted from nearby towns, not long-haul coach fleets. Shore excursions are guided by licensed Egyptologists and local guides from the communities visited, which helps channel income directly to local families and small businesses. On board we ask guests to minimise single-use plastics, reuse towels where practical, and follow waste-separation procedures; crew manage food waste and recycling where the port facilities allow. As a licensed Egyptian tour operator, we monitor supplier practices and prefer partners who hire locally and contribute to community projects.
