02Overview

A first look

Morning light moves across the Nile-view balconies as the vessel leaves Luxor, with the riverbank slipping past beyond the panoramic windows. Between sailing days, you can step ashore for Karnak Temple, the Temple of Horus at Edfu, Kom Ombo, Philae, and the Valley of the Kings, then return to the sun deck or lounge bar as the river quiets.

Jaz Elite Senator Nile Cruise sails weekly in both directions between Luxor and Aswan. Discovery Tours Egypt, a licensed Egyptian tour operator, selects and arranges the cruise, shore excursions, and local support. Our Egyptologists explain the sites in context, while the cabin, dining room, pool, and air-conditioned public areas give you an easy place to reset between visits.

Accessibility

Who can join this

This Nile cruise requires moderate mobility. Guests should expect boarding via a gangway with steps at embarkation and disembarkation, narrow corridors on some cabin decks, and stairs between decks; elevators are not guaranteed. Shore excursions include walking on uneven ancient stone, stepped temple entrances, sandy riverbanks, and limited shade at outdoor sites, so comfortable, steady footing is necessary. Wheelchair users can travel with advance notice, but full independent wheelchair access is not available at many temples and tombs; some sites require transfers from the dock by tender boat. Please tell us about mobility needs before booking so we can advise which shore excursions are feasible and arrange assistance where possible. Crew and our ground team will help with embarkation and luggage handling, but expect some physical demands during excursions.

Children & families

Children 0 to 5.99 years travel free when sharing a cabin with parents. Children 6 to 11.99 years pay 50% of the adult fare, and children 12 years and older pay the full adult price. Children must share a cabin with their parents, maximum one child per cabin; two or more children require a separate cabin. Strollers are usable on board but may be awkward on docks and at some temple entrances because of steps; high chairs are not guaranteed on every vessel, so request one when booking.

Responsible travel

How we travel here

The cruise typically uses diesel-engine river vessels and small tender boats for shore access; on-land transfers are by air-conditioned coaches arranged for embarkation and disembarkation. We contract locally based Egyptologists and crew, which supports the Luxor and Aswan economies through wages and seasonal employment. Where possible we source fresh fruit, vegetables, and bakery items from local markets rather than importing supplies. On board and in partner hotels we encourage linen reuse, single-use plastic reduction by offering refillable water stations, and sorting of recyclable waste; passengers are asked to minimise single-use plastics. Shore excursions include visits to small businesses and registered craft cooperatives when available, so tourism revenue reaches local suppliers directly. If you have specific sustainability priorities, tell us before booking and we will note them for our ground team.
