02Overview
A first look
Easter is a good week to be in Egypt. March is warm but not yet hot, so long days among the monuments are comfortable. This tour is built around Western Easter 2027 and runs from Wednesday 24 March to Tuesday 30 March, with Easter Sunday, 28 March, on day 5.
You spend two nights each in Cairo, Aswan and Luxor. In Cairo you visit the Giza Pyramids, the Sphinx, Saqqara and Memphis. You fly to Aswan for the High Dam, the Unfinished Obelisk, a sunset felucca ride and a full day at Abu Simbel. On Easter Sunday you drive from Aswan to Luxor by way of Kom Ombo and Edfu. Luxor brings the West Bank and Karnak. We book both domestic flights, all transfers and your hotels. You choose the hotel standard when you book, and the sightseeing stays the same.

Day by day
Detailed itinerary
7 Days / 6 Nights · Cairo · Giza Plateau · Saqqara · Memphis · Aswan · High Dam
- 1
Wednesday 24 March 2027. A private representative meets you in the arrivals hall at Cairo Airport and takes you to your hotel, about an hour away. The rest of the day is free to recover from your flight.
- 2
A full day, about 8 hours, with a private Egyptologist guide. Your driver collects you from the hotel and takes you to the Giza Plateau for the pyramids and the Great Sphinx, with the Valley Temple beside it. You then drive south through the countryside to Saqqara, where the Step Pyramid is the first great stone pyramid, and on to Memphis, the first capital of a united Egypt.
Lunch is at a countryside restaurant. The entrance fees and the private air-conditioned vehicle are included. You return to your hotel for a second night in Cairo.
- 3
After breakfast you transfer to Cairo Airport for the flight to Aswan. The flight time is set by the airline schedule, and your sightseeing is arranged around it. A driver meets you in Aswan and takes you to your hotel. Then comes a half-day tour with your Egyptologist guide to the High Dam and the Unfinished Obelisk, the giant granite obelisk left in its quarry.
Late in the day you board a felucca, the traditional sailing boat, for a sunset ride on the Nile.
- 4
A full day out from Aswan by road to the temples of Abu Simbel, cut into the rock face by Ramses II and moved to higher ground when the High Dam flooded the valley. Your Egyptologist guide takes you through the Great Temple and the smaller temple of his queen Nefertari. The entrance fees and the transport are included. It is a long day on the road, so bring water and a hat.
You return to Aswan for your second night.
- 5
Sunday 28 March 2027 is Western Easter. After breakfast you leave Aswan and drive north to Luxor, with your Egyptologist guide, stopping at two temples on the way. Kom Ombo is a double temple on the riverbank, shared by the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon god Horus. Edfu is the Temple of Horus, one of the best-preserved in Egypt. You reach your Luxor hotel later in the day.
Easter week is busy in Egypt. If you would like to attend a church service, ask us before you travel.
- 6
A full day on the West Bank with your Egyptologist guide. You visit the Valley of the Kings, the royal burial ground of the New Kingdom, then Hatshepsut's mortuary temple at Deir el-Bahari and the Colossi of Memnon. The day ends at Medinet Habu, the temple of Ramses III, with its carved walls. Entrance fees and transport are included. You return to your Luxor hotel for a second night.
- 7
Tuesday 30 March 2027. After breakfast you check out and visit Karnak with your Egyptologist guide, the largest temple complex in Egypt, including the Sacred Lake. The entrance fees and the private vehicle are included. A transfer takes you to Luxor Airport for the flight to Cairo, where your trip ends.
The flight time is set by the airline schedule, so book your international flight for late evening or night. See the question on connections below.

Field notes
From our Egyptologists
- 01
Easter week is busy in Egypt; reach Edfu and Kom Ombo early, since both temples are small and fill quickly with tour buses.
- 02
Seek out Medinet Habu on the West Bank; it is quieter than the Valley of the Kings and its colored reliefs of battle scenes are vivid.
- 03
On the final morning, see Karnak's Great Hypostyle Hall first and keep your bags in the vehicle with your driver.
- 04
Bring a hat to Abu Simbel; the site has almost no shade and the walk from the car park crosses open ground.

Worth knowing
How this compares
Many Easter itineraries lump Cairo and the south into one rushed route. This tour gives each city two nights, with both flights and every transfer booked for you. Hotel standard is your choice; the sightseeing does not change.

Accessibility
Who can join this
This tour involves a lot of walking on large archaeological sites, with uneven stone, steps and some narrow passages. Abu Simbel, Edfu, Karnak and the West Bank have long outdoor stretches with little shade. Days 4 and 5 include long drives. The vehicles are private and air-conditioned, but we cannot promise wheelchair access at every site. Tell us your needs when you book and we will tell you honestly which parts are suitable.
– Responsible travel
How we travel here
The tour uses two domestic flights and private road transfers, and the vehicle type can vary, so we do not claim a carbon saving. Sightseeing is guided by local Egyptologists and arranged through local suppliers in Cairo, Aswan and Luxor, so much of the money you spend stays in the places you visit. We ask guests to bring a refillable water bottle and not to touch painted walls in tombs and temples.

Frequent questions
01When does this Easter tour run?
It departs for Western Easter week 2027: Wednesday 24 March to Tuesday 30 March, with Easter Sunday, 28 March, on day 5. Domestic and international tickets are separate bookings, so a delayed domestic flight can cost you your connection. Easter week is a popular travel time in Egypt, and March is high season. Book your flights and rooms early. We do not arrange any special Easter events on this tour. If you want to attend a church service, ask us before you travel.06Which hotels will we have?
You choose a standard when you book, from budget to luxury, and we name the hotels for your dates. The itinerary and sightseeing are the same at every standard.07What is not included?
International flights, the Egypt visa, tips for guides and drivers, meals other than those stated, drinks, and travel insurance.08Is this tour private?
Yes. Your Egyptologist guide and driver are private for the sightseeing days, with a private air-conditioned vehicle.
