The short answer
7-Day Cairo, Luxor & Hurghada Tour is a 7-day, 6-night trip to Cairo, Luxor and Hurghada: 3 nights in Cairo, 1 in Luxor and 2 in Hurghada. It includes domestic flights, an Egyptologist guide, entrance fees and transfers. Prices start at $1,756 per person, two sharing (Comfort, October–April).
02Overview
A first look
Think of this week in three stops. Cairo comes first: a Nile dinner cruise on your arrival evening, then a full day with an Egyptologist at the Giza Pyramids, the Sphinx and the Grand Egyptian Museum. Luxor is second. You fly south on day 3 for Karnak and Luxor Temple, and spend the next morning on the West Bank at the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut's temple and the Colossi of Memnon.
The third stop is the Red Sea. A private car takes you from Luxor to Hurghada, about five hours, and you have a whole day with nothing planned. On day 6 you fly back to Cairo for a last night, and you leave the next morning. We book both flights, every transfer, all hotels and every entrance ticket. You pick the hotel standard when you book.

Day by day
Detailed itinerary
7 Days / 6 Nights · Cairo · Luxor · Hurghada
- 1
Your representative waits in the arrivals hall at Cairo Airport and drives you to the hotel, so you can settle in. Later you are picked up for an evening on the river. The Nile dinner cruise lasts about two hours and includes a buffet dinner and a live show, with Cairo lit up along the banks. A private transfer returns you to your hotel afterwards.
- 2
Today is one full day, about eight hours, with your English-speaking Egyptologist guide. First stop is the Giza Plateau, where you walk among the pyramids and stand before the Great Sphinx. After lunch at a restaurant with a view you move on to the Grand Egyptian Museum and its Tutankhamun collection.
Entrance fees and air-conditioned transport are included, and you are back at your hotel by evening for a second night in Cairo.
- 3
After breakfast a transfer takes you to Cairo Airport for the short flight south to Luxor. A driver takes you from the airport into the city. Your Egyptologist guide then leads you around the East Bank: Karnak, the biggest temple complex in Egypt, and Luxor Temple by the river. Guide, entrance fees and transport are included. The airline's schedule decides how the visits are timed.
Lunch is not included.
- 4
The morning is spent on Luxor's West Bank with your Egyptologist guide: the Valley of the Kings with three tombs, Hatshepsut's temple and the Colossi of Memnon. Guide, entrance fees and transport are included. Afterwards a private, air-conditioned car carries you to Hurghada on the Red Sea.
The drive takes about five hours, so this is the longest day of the week, and you check in at your seaside hotel in the evening. Lunch is not included.
- 5
This day belongs to you. Nothing is planned, so sleep in, swim, sit by the pool or stroll the Red Sea shore after the busy days behind you. If you would like a boat trip or snorkeling, tell us and we will quote it. Breakfast is included at the hotel.
- 6
Following breakfast you are driven to Hurghada Airport for the flight to Cairo. On landing, a driver takes you to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for packing, a walk or last souvenirs. This final night in Cairo is deliberate: it gives you a safety window if the domestic flight is delayed, before your flight home.
- 7
Eat breakfast, check out and meet your driver. The private transfer to Cairo Airport is planned with about 90 minutes in hand, so you reach the terminal without hurrying. Safe travels. Aswan and a Nile cruise will still be here when you return.

Field notes
From our Egyptologists
- 01
At Giza, go early for softer light and fewer coaches around the plateau entrances.
- 02
The Valley of the Kings is best before midday, before heat builds on the West Bank.
- 03
Luxor Temple looks strongest after sunset when the courtyard lighting is on.
- 04
Carry small cash for drinks and extras in Hurghada; card acceptance varies by venue.
- 05
If you want quieter museum viewing, plan the Grand Egyptian Museum visit as early as possible.
Tailor it
Make it yours
Choose your hotel standard when you book. Ask us about extra nights in Hurghada, a Red Sea boat trip or snorkeling, Aswan or a hot-air balloon flight in Luxor.
All requests handled by your dedicated specialist before booking.
Suited to
Is this for you?
Yes, if
- Travelers who want the big sites of Cairo and Luxor and then a quiet stop on the Red Sea. Suited to couples, friends and solo travelers who are comfortable with a long drive and two short flights.
Maybe not, if
- Travelers who need step-free access to every site, or who dislike long road transfers. Day 4 is long.
Honest assessment
Real trade-offs from our experience managing this tour.
Highlights
- The pyramids, the Grand Egyptian Museum, Karnak and the Valley of the Kings plus a free beach day
- Both domestic flights and all transfers handled for you
- A last night in Cairo protects your flight home
Things to Consider
- Day 4 combines the West Bank with a five-hour road transfer
- Uneven stone, steps and little shade at the major sites
- No Aswan, Abu Simbel or Nile cruise
Where it fits
A good fit if you want history first and then rest. If you want Aswan, Abu Simbel or a Nile cruise, choose a longer tour.
Worth knowing
How this compares
Many operators sell Cairo, Luxor and a beach stay as separate trips. This tour joins them in one week with both flights, the transfers and the entrance fees booked for you, and ends with a night in Cairo so a late domestic flight does not threaten your flight home.

Children & families
Children are welcome. Every child takes a seat in the vehicle, so transport and guiding are charged at the adult rate at any age. Entrance tickets are free for children under 6 and full price from 6. Hotel prices depend on the child's age and the room used, so we give you the exact figure when you tell us the age at booking. The five-hour road transfer is long for young children.
Accessibility
Who can join this
This tour involves a lot of walking on large archaeological sites, with uneven stone, sand, steps and some narrow tomb passages. The Valley of the Kings and Karnak have long outdoor stretches with little shade. The transfer from Luxor to Hurghada is about five hours by road. Vehicles are private and air-conditioned, but we cannot promise wheelchair access at every site. Tell us your needs when you book and we will tell you honestly which parts are suitable.
– Responsible travel
How we travel here
The itinerary uses two domestic flights and long private road transfers, and the vehicle type can vary, so we do not claim a carbon saving. Sightseeing is guided by local Egyptologists and arranged through local suppliers in Cairo, Luxor and Hurghada, so most of the money you spend stays in the places you visit. We ask guests to bring a refillable water bottle, not to touch painted walls in tombs and to respect the reef if they swim in the Red Sea.

Asked & answered
Frequent questions
01Are the domestic flights included?
Yes. We book the flight from Cairo to Luxor on day 3 and the flight from Hurghada to Cairo on day 6. Airline schedules set the times. Getting from Luxor to Hurghada is a private road transfer of about five hours. International flights are not included.02Will I make my international flight?
Domestic and international tickets are separate bookings, so a late domestic flight can cost you the connection. We prefer one last night in Cairo, which is why day 6 ends there. If you ever have to fly to Cairo and connect on the same day, choose a late-evening or night international flight. Travel insurance that covers missed connections is a sensible extra.03Is the drive from Luxor to Hurghada tiring?
It takes about five hours in a private, air-conditioned vehicle, and it follows the West Bank sightseeing on day 4. That makes day 4 the longest of the week. Day 5 is free, so you can rest.04What can I do in Hurghada?
Day 5 is yours. Most guests swim, read by the pool or walk along the shore. No boat trip or snorkeling is included, but we can quote one if you ask.05Are a guide, entrance fees and transport included?
Yes. An English-speaking Egyptologist guide, the entrance fees and the transport are included on the Giza and museum day and on both Luxor days. Three tombs in the Valley of the Kings are covered.06Which hotels will we stay in?
You choose a standard when you book, from budget to luxury, and we name the hotels for your dates. There are six hotel nights with breakfast: two in Cairo at the start, one in Luxor, two in Hurghada and one more in Cairo. Sightseeing is the same at every standard.07Which meals are included?
Breakfast is included on days 2 to 7, dinner on the Nile cruise on day 1, and lunch on the Giza day. Other lunches and dinners are yours to arrange.08What is not included?
International flights, the Egypt visa, tips for guides and drivers, drinks, lunches on days 3 to 6, dinners other than the Nile cruise, the inside of the Khufu pyramid, premium tombs such as Tutankhamun's, and travel insurance.09When is the best time to go?
October to April is cooler and better for walking around temples. Summers are hot, especially in Luxor, so sightseeing starts early. The Red Sea is warm enough for a swim for much of the year.
