02Overview
A first look
This New Year tour runs from Sunday 27 December 2026 to Saturday 2 January 2027. You spend two nights in Cairo, two in Aswan and two in Luxor, and New Year's Eve falls on day 5, your first night in Luxor.
In Cairo you see the Giza Pyramids and the Sphinx, then the Egyptian Museum. You fly south to Aswan for Philae Temple and a Nubian village, give a whole day to Abu Simbel by road, and take a motorboat to Elephantine Island. Then you drive to Luxor for the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut's temple, Karnak and Luxor Temple. We book the domestic flights, the transfers and your hotels, and an English-speaking Egyptologist guides each sightseeing day.
The New Year gala dinner is not included in the price. If your hotel holds one, you book and pay for it with the hotel on the night. We do not plan any festive events for you, so New Year's Eve is yours to spend as you like.

Day by day
Detailed itinerary
7 Days / 6 Nights · Cairo · Giza Plateau · Egyptian Museum · Aswan · Philae Temple · Abu Simbel
- 1
Your representative meets you in the arrivals hall at Cairo Airport and takes you to your hotel by private vehicle. The rest of the day is free to rest after your flight. This is the first of two nights in Cairo.
- 2
With your Egyptologist guide, you visit the Giza Pyramids and the Great Sphinx on a half-day tour. Then comes a second half-day at the Egyptian Museum. Entrance fees and transport are included. You return to your hotel for a second night in Cairo.
- 3
After breakfast you are driven to Cairo Airport for the one-hour domestic flight to Aswan. A representative meets you and takes you to your hotel. In the day you visit Philae Temple, reached by boat, and a Nubian village. Your English-speaking guide, the entrance fees and the transport are included.
- 4
This whole day goes to Abu Simbel. You travel by road from Aswan to the two great temples of Ramses II, with your guide, and return to Aswan for a second night. The day starts early and is long, so bring a warm layer for the morning. The Abu Simbel entrance fees are included.
- 5
In the morning you cross to Elephantine Island and the Aswan Botanical Garden by private motorboat. After that you are driven to Luxor by private vehicle and check in to your hotel. It is New Year's Eve. The gala dinner is not included; if your hotel holds one, you pay the hotel directly on the night.
- 6
On New Year's Day you cross to the West Bank for a full day with your Egyptologist: the Valley of the Kings, the temple of Hatshepsut, the Colossi of Memnon and Medinet Habu. Entrance fees and transport are included. You return to your Luxor hotel for a second night.
- 7
The morning is on the East Bank, with a licensed Egyptologist at Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple. Entrance fees and transport between the sites are included. You are then driven to Luxor Airport for the one-hour domestic flight to Cairo. There is no hotel night in Cairo, so your international flight should leave late in the evening. The tour ends in Cairo.

Field notes
From our Egyptologists
- 01
For Abu Simbel by road, sit on the lake-facing side of the vehicle for the best desert and Lake Nasser views, and bring snacks for the drive.
- 02
Visit the Nubian village with an open mind and ask before photographing people or their homes; hosts there warmly welcome guests.
- 03
On the Pyramids half day, ask your guide to stop at the panoramic viewpoint, which frames all three Giza pyramids in a single photo.
- 04
Leave your Karnak and Luxor Temple morning relaxed; arriving early on the last day keeps your afternoon flight comfortably on schedule.

Many New Year trips stop at Cairo and a Nile cruise. This one is hotel-based and adds a full day at Abu Simbel, with both domestic flights and every transfer booked for you. The hotel standard is your choice; the sightseeing does not change.

Accessibility
Who can join this
This tour involves a lot of walking on large archaeological sites, with uneven stone, sand, steps and some narrow tomb passages. Karnak and the Valley of the Kings have long outdoor stretches with little shade. Reaching Philae Temple and Elephantine Island means boarding a boat, which involves steps. Day 4 to Abu Simbel is a full day on the road. The vehicles are private and air-conditioned, but we cannot promise wheelchair access at every site. Tell us your needs when you book and we will tell you honestly which parts are suitable.
– Responsible travel
How we travel here
The itinerary uses two domestic flights, private road transfers and motorboat trips, and the vehicle type can vary, so we do not claim a carbon saving. Sightseeing is guided by local Egyptologists and arranged through local suppliers in Cairo, Aswan and Luxor, so most of the money you spend stays in the places you visit. We ask guests to bring refillable water bottles and not to touch painted walls in tombs and temples.

Asked & answered
Frequent questions
01Is the New Year gala dinner included?
No. The gala dinner is not included in the price. If your hotel holds one on New Year's Eve, you book it and pay for it with the hotel on the night. We can tell you what to expect before you travel.02Where will we be on New Year's Eve?
In Luxor. Thursday 31 December is day 5, when you arrive from Aswan and spend the first of two nights in Luxor. We do not arrange events for the evening, so the night is yours.03Which dates does this tour run?
It runs from Sunday 27 December 2026 to Saturday 2 January 2027. Day 1 is arrival in Cairo and day 7 is the morning at Karnak, then the flight to Cairo.04Are the domestic flights included?
Yes. The flights from Cairo to Aswan on day 3 and from Luxor to Cairo on day 7 are booked for you and included. Flight times follow the airline schedule. International flights are not included.05Will I make my international flight?

If you want a safer margin, ask us to add a final night in Cairo.06Is Abu Simbel included?
Yes. Day 4 is a full day at Abu Simbel by road from Aswan, with your guide and the entrance fees included. It is an early start and a long day.07Which hotels will we have?
