Dahabiya Judi
A 5-star intimate dahabiya with lateen-sail cruising, chef-prepared full-board dining, and quieter evenings without a nightclub or disco.
The short answer
Dahabiya Judi is a dahabiya. Embark in Esna on a Monday for 5 nights to Aswan. Rates are on request: send us your dates for a live price.
02Overview
A first look
The Nile moves quietly past the deck as the lateen sail catches the morning breeze, with reeds, village roofs, and palm trees sliding along the riverbank. On the Judi Dahabiya Nile Cruise, the pace leaves room to watch fishermen at work, listen to the water against the hull, and sit down to meals prepared on board rather than follow a fixed entertainment schedule.
We arrange the sailing with the vessel’s owning cruise company, including the shore program when El Kab or Gebel Silsila is part of the route. Our team coordinates the practical details on land, so you can focus on the river, the changing light, and a quieter evening without a nightclub or disco.

Detailed itinerary
- 1
On arrival at Luxor airport or train station, your Egyptologist guide takes you on a full day of sightseeing in Luxor: Karnak Temple, the Valley of the Kings, the Colossi of Memnon and the Temple of Hatshepsut. In the afternoon you are driven to Esna, where the dahabiya waits below the lock, to board, settle into your cabin and have dinner on board.
- 2
Morning visit to the rock-cut tombs of El Kab, one of Egypt’s oldest settlements, then a slow sail toward Edfu with lunch on deck and an evening mooring near the town.
- 3
Visit the Temple of Horus, the best-preserved temple in Egypt, in the cool of the morning. Sail on to Gebel el Silsila, where the Nile narrows between sandstone cliffs quarried for the great temples.
- 4
Explore the rock chapels and ancient quarries of Gebel el Silsila before sailing to Kom Ombo, where the twin temple of Sobek and Horus stands right on the bend of the river.
- 5
A day of pure sailing among the islands south of Kom Ombo, with a swimming stop, a walk through a Nubian village, and a farewell dinner on board as the boat nears Aswan.
- 6
Breakfast on board as the dahabiya reaches Aswan, then disembarkation and onward transfer.

Suited to
Is this for you?
Yes, if
- This sailing suits adults, couples, honeymooners, photographers, and experienced Egypt travelers who prefer a calm, intimate river journey over the entertainment and capacity of a large Nile cruiser. Travelers should be comfortable with boarding a boat, walking on uneven riverbanks, and following a flexible sailing schedule.
Worth knowing
How this compares
Unlike large Nile cruisers, a dahabiya uses lateen sails, carries fewer passengers, and follows a slower river itinerary with a quieter evening atmosphere and no nightclub or disco. Its smaller size may allow access to locations such as El Kab and Gebel Silsila when those stops appear in the confirmed program, although shore excursions and entrance fees are not automatically included.

Accessibility
Who can join this
A dahabiya cruise requires moderate mobility because boarding usually involves steps from the riverbank or dock onto the boat, and Nile access points can have uneven ground, sand, mud, or limited handrails. Shore visits to El Kab and Gebel Silsila may include unpaved paths, steps, exposed stone, and limited shade. Cabins and shared areas are compact, and a standard wheelchair may be difficult to store or maneuver. Guests using mobility aids should contact us before booking so we can confirm the assigned vessel, boarding point, cabin access, and shore-excursion conditions.
– Responsible travel
How we travel here
A dahabiya uses a lateen sail for much of its Nile journey, which supports a slower pace and can reduce reliance on engine power while sailing conditions permit. The vessel is owned and operated by the selected cruise supplier, while Discovery Tours Egypt arranges the booking and local coordination. Meals are prepared on board, using the vessel’s catering supply chain. Quieter riverbank stops can spread visitor spending beyond the busiest sites, although local community benefits depend on the specific landing points and purchases made by guests. Please avoid single-use plastic and take all waste back on board where disposal facilities are limited.

We arrange Egyptologist-guided shore visits and all ground transfers; standard site entrance fees are included unless we state otherwise. Trade-offs: smaller cabins, fewer public spaces, and occasional schedule variation when wind conditions affect progress – we plan itineraries to manage those variables.
