Day by day
Detailed itinerary
10 Days / 9 Nights · Cairo · Aswan · Luxor · Hurghada
- 1
A representative meets you in the arrivals hall at Cairo Airport and drives you to your hotel. Nothing else is planned today, so you can rest after your flight and spend the evening as you like. Your first sightseeing day starts the next morning.
- 2
A full day with your private Egyptologist guide, starting early with a pickup from your hotel. You spend the first part on the Giza Plateau with the pyramids and the Great Sphinx; allow 4 to 6 hours for the Giza visit. After lunch you visit the Grand Egyptian Museum for the Tutankhamun collection and the great statues of the Old and New Kingdoms.
The guide, the entrance fees and the air-conditioned transport are included.
- 3
A transfer takes you to Cairo Airport for the flight to Aswan, where a driver meets you. In the afternoon you visit the northern granite quarries and the Unfinished Obelisk, then the Aswan High Dam, and cross by boat to Philae, the temple of Isis on its island, with an Egyptologist guide. The vehicle and entrance fees are included. The sightseeing is arranged around the airline's flight time.
Lunch is not included today.
- 4
A full day to see Abu Simbel, the two rock temples of Ramesses II beside Lake Nasser, with the colossal statues at the entrance. You travel by road from Aswan, and the entrance fees are included. Expect an early start and a long day. You sleep in Aswan again.
- 5
A full day of travel and temples. You leave Aswan by road with a local Egyptologist and visit the temples of Kom Ombo and Edfu on the way to Luxor. The air-conditioned vehicle, the entrance fees for the listed temples and the guide are included. You reach Luxor at the end of the day and spend the night there.
- 6
With your English-speaking Egyptologist you cross to the West Bank for the Valley of the Kings, where entrance to three tombs is included, then Hatshepsut's temple and the Colossi of Memnon. The tour takes about six hours, and the guide, the entrance fees and the air-conditioned transport are included. The rest of the day is free, and you spend a second night in Luxor.
- 7
After breakfast your Egyptologist takes you to the East Bank for Karnak, the largest temple complex in Egypt, and Luxor Temple. The guide, the entrance fees and the transport between the two sites are included. In the afternoon a private, air-conditioned vehicle takes you from Luxor to Hurghada on the Red Sea, about five hours by road.
It is a day of sightseeing and then a long drive, and you check in to your hotel in the evening.
- 8
Nothing is scheduled today. Swim, rest by the pool or walk along the Red Sea. If you want to add a boat trip, snorkeling or another activity, ask us and we will quote it. Your hotel breakfast is included.
- 9
A transfer takes you to Hurghada Airport for the flight to Cairo, where a driver meets you and takes you to your hotel. Then you set out with a private Egyptologist for about six hours of sightseeing, arranged around the airline's flight time.
You visit the Sultan Hassan and Al-Rifa'i mosques, the Citadel of Saladin and the Mosque of Muhammad Ali, then Old Coptic Cairo, with a lunch break and the Hanging Church and the Church of Saints Sergius and Bacchus. The guide, the entrance fees and the transport are included. This is your last night in Cairo.
- 10
Have breakfast at your hotel and check out. A private transfer takes you to Cairo Airport, allowing about 90 minutes for the drive. Staying the last night in Cairo gives a safety window if the domestic flight on day 9 runs late, so you reach your international flight calmly.

Field notes
From our Egyptologists
- 01
Book Abu Simbel for the earliest departure, before heat builds on the desert road.
- 02
At Karnak, the Great Hypostyle Hall photographs best when side light reaches the columns.
- 03
In Luxor West Bank tombs, wear shoes with grip, the stone can be uneven and dusty.
- 04
Hurghada beaches are calmer in the morning, with less wind and clearer water.
- 05
Khan El Khalili is usually less crowded after the afternoon prayer window, around Friday scheduling changes.
Tailor it
Make it yours
Choose your hotel standard when you book. Ask us about a Nile cruise instead of the road journey, extra nights in Hurghada or Luxor, a Red Sea boat trip or a hot-air balloon flight in Luxor.
All requests handled by your dedicated specialist before booking.
Suited to
Is this for you?
Yes, if
- Travelers who want Cairo, Aswan, Luxor and some time by the sea without rushing. Suited to couples, friends and solo travelers who are comfortable with long drives, two flights and plenty of walking.

Real trade-offs from our experience managing this tour.
Highlights

- Abu Simbel has its own day, and Hurghada has a free day

- A last night in Cairo protects your flight home
Things to Consider
- Days 4, 5 and 7 involve a lot of road travel
- Uneven stone, steps and little shade at the major sites
- No Nile cruise: Aswan to Luxor is by road
Where it fits
A good fit if you want Abu Simbel, Luxor and a rest by the sea at a steady pace. If you want to sleep on the Nile, choose a tour with a Nile cruise.
Worth knowing
How this compares
Many operators sell Aswan, Luxor and a Red Sea stay as separate trips. This tour joins them in ten days with two flights and every transfer booked for you, and ends with a night in Cairo so a late domestic flight does not threaten your flight home.

Accessibility
Who can join this
This tour involves a lot of walking on large archaeological sites, with uneven stone, sand, steps and some narrow tomb passages. The Valley of the Kings, Karnak and Abu Simbel have long outdoor stretches with little shade. Visiting Philae involves a short boat crossing and steps. Several days include long road journeys. Vehicles are air-conditioned, but we cannot promise wheelchair access at every site. Tell us your needs when you book and we will tell you honestly which parts are suitable.
– Responsible travel
How we travel here
The itinerary uses two domestic flights and long road transfers, and the vehicle type can vary, so we do not claim a carbon saving. Sightseeing is guided by local Egyptologists and arranged through local suppliers in Cairo, Aswan, Luxor and Hurghada, so most of the money you spend stays in the places you visit. We ask guests to bring a refillable water bottle and not to touch painted walls in tombs.

Asked & answered
Frequent questions
01Are the domestic flights included?
Yes. The flights from Cairo to Aswan on day 3 and from Hurghada to Cairo on day 9 are booked for you and included in the price. Between Aswan, Luxor and Hurghada you travel by road. International flights are not included.02Will I make my international flight?
Domestic and international tickets are separate bookings, so a delayed domestic flight can cost you the connection. That is why this tour ends with a night in Cairo before you leave. If you ever fly to Cairo and connect on the same day, choose a late-evening or night international flight, and take travel insurance that covers missed connections.03When do we see Abu Simbel?
On day 4, the day after you fly to Aswan. It is a full day by road from Aswan with the entrance fees included. Expect an early start.04Is there a Nile cruise on this tour?
No. You travel from Aswan to Luxor by road on day 5, stopping at Kom Ombo and Edfu. If you want to sleep on a ship, a tour with a Nile cruise is a better match.05What can I do in Hurghada?
Day 8 is free. Hurghada is a Red Sea resort town, so most guests swim and relax. We can quote a boat trip or snorkeling if you ask, but none is included.06Which hotels will we have?
You choose a standard when you book, from budget to luxury, and we name the hotels for your dates. There are nine hotel nights with breakfast: three in Cairo, two in Aswan, two in Luxor and two in Hurghada. The sightseeing is the same at every standard.07What is not included?
International flights, the Egypt visa, tips for guides and drivers, dinners and drinks, lunches other than the one on day 2, the interior of the Khufu pyramid, premium tombs such as Tutankhamun's, and travel insurance.08When is the best time to go?
October to April is cooler and the most comfortable for walking around temples. Summers are very hot, especially in Aswan and Luxor, so sightseeing starts early.09What happens on day 1?
Your driver meets you at Cairo Airport and takes you to your hotel. Nothing else is planned, so you can rest and have dinner wherever you like. Dinner is not included.10How do days 6 and 7 work in Luxor?
Day 6 is the West Bank: the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut's temple and the Colossi of Memnon, with the rest of the day free. On the morning of day 7 you see Karnak and Luxor Temple, then drive to Hurghada in the afternoon, about five hours. A guide, entrance fees and transport are included on both sightseeing mornings.
