The short answer
4-Day Cairo & Luxor Tour is a 4-day, 3-night trip to Cairo and Luxor: 2 nights in Cairo and 1 in Luxor. It includes domestic flights, an Egyptologist guide, entrance fees and transfers. Prices start at $1,321 per person, two sharing (Essential, October–April).
02Overview
A first look
Four days is short, so this plan skips nothing that matters. You land in Cairo and spend your first evening on a Nile dinner cruise with a live show. The next day is the Giza Pyramids, the Sphinx and the Grand Egyptian Museum with your Egyptologist. That evening you fly to Luxor.
Day 3 is Luxor in one go: the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut's temple and the Colossi of Memnon on the West Bank, then Karnak and Luxor Temple on the East Bank. You fly back to Cairo that night and leave the next morning. The days are full, so this tour suits travelers who like to see a lot and are happy with early starts and two domestic flights. We book the flights, the transfers, your hotels and every entrance ticket.

Day by day
Detailed itinerary
4 Days / 3 Nights · Cairo · Giza · Luxor
- 1
A representative meets you in the arrivals hall at Cairo Airport and drives you to your hotel. Rest after your flight. In the evening you are collected for a Nile dinner cruise: about two hours on the river with a buffet dinner and a live show, with the lights of Cairo along the banks. A private transfer takes you back to your hotel afterwards.
- 2
A full day with your English-speaking Egyptologist guide, about eight hours in all. You start on the Giza Plateau with the pyramids and the Great Sphinx, then have lunch and continue to the Grand Egyptian Museum for the Tutankhamun collection and the great statues of the Old and New Kingdoms. The guide, the entrance fees and the air-conditioned transport are included.
Later you transfer to Cairo Airport for the flight to Luxor. We arrange the sightseeing around the flight time set by the airline. A driver takes you to your Luxor hotel for the night.
- 3
This is a very full day. With your Egyptologist you cross to the West Bank for the Valley of the Kings, where three tombs are included, Hatshepsut's temple and the Colossi of Memnon. Then you visit the East Bank: Karnak, the largest temple complex in Egypt, and Luxor Temple. The guide, the entrance fees and the transport between sites are included.
A transfer takes you to Luxor Airport for the flight back to Cairo, and then to your hotel. The sightseeing is planned around the airline's flight time.
- 4
Have breakfast at your hotel. A private transfer takes you to Cairo Airport, allowing about 90 minutes for the drive. Staying the last night in Cairo gives a safety window if a domestic flight runs late the day before, so you reach your international flight calmly.

Field notes
From our Egyptologists
- 01
Visit the Giza Plateau early, before the strongest heat and bus arrivals build up.
- 02
At Karnak Temple, morning light gives cleaner photos on the first court and along the avenue.
- 03
In the Valley of the Kings, bring small cash for optional tomb upgrades not included in standard entry.
- 04
For the dinner cruise, choose a window seat if you want Nile and skyline views during boarding.

Suited to
Is this for you?
Yes, if
- Travelers with only four days who want the best of Cairo and Luxor. Suited to couples, friends and solo travelers who are comfortable with early starts, two short flights and several hours of walking on sightseeing days.
Maybe not, if
- Travelers who need step-free access to every site, or who want a slow pace. Days 2 and 3 are very full.
Honest assessment
Real trade-offs from our experience managing this tour.
Highlights
- The pyramids, the Grand Egyptian Museum, Karnak and the Valley of the Kings in four days
- Both domestic flights, transfers and entrance fees handled for you
- A last night in Cairo protects your flight home
Things to Consider
- Days 2 and 3 are long and each includes a flight
- Uneven stone, steps and little shade at the major sites
- No Aswan, Abu Simbel or Nile cruise
Where it fits
A good fit if you have four days and want the headline sites. If you want Aswan, Abu Simbel or a Nile cruise, choose a longer tour.
Worth knowing
How this compares
Many operators sell Cairo and Luxor as separate day trips or as a longer package. This tour joins them in four days with both flights, the transfers and the entrance fees booked for you, and ends with a night in Cairo so a late domestic flight does not threaten your flight home.

Accessibility
Who can join this
This tour involves a lot of walking on large archaeological sites, with uneven stone, sand, steps and some narrow tomb passages. The Valley of the Kings and Karnak have long outdoor stretches with little shade. The Grand Egyptian Museum is a very large building with long distances to walk. Vehicles are private and air-conditioned, but we cannot promise wheelchair access at every site. Tell us your needs when you book and we will tell you honestly which parts are suitable.
– Responsible travel
How we travel here
The itinerary uses two domestic flights and private road transfers, and the vehicle type can vary, so we do not claim a carbon saving. Sightseeing is guided by local Egyptologists and arranged through local suppliers in Cairo and Luxor, so most of the money you spend stays in the places you visit. We ask guests to bring a refillable water bottle and not to touch painted walls in tombs.

Asked & answered
Frequent questions
01Are the domestic flights included?
Yes. The flights from Cairo to Luxor on day 2 and from Luxor to Cairo on day 3 are booked for you and included in the price. International flights are not.02Will I make my international flight?
Domestic and international tickets are separate bookings, so a delayed domestic flight can cost you the connection. That is why this tour ends with a night in Cairo before you leave. If you ever fly to Cairo and connect on the same day, choose a late-evening or night international flight, and take travel insurance that covers missed connections.03Is a guide and are entrance fees included?
Yes. An English-speaking Egyptologist guide, the entrance fees and the transport are included on the Giza, museum and Luxor sightseeing days. The tour includes three tombs in the Valley of the Kings.04Are days 2 and 3 too packed?
They are full days. Day 2 is about eight hours of sightseeing before a flight, and day 3 covers both banks of Luxor before a flight back. Most guests who choose four days accept that in exchange for seeing both cities. If you want more room, ask us about adding a night.05Which hotels will we have?
You choose a standard when you book, from budget to luxury, and we name the hotels for your dates. There are three hotel nights, one in Luxor and two in Cairo, all with breakfast. The sightseeing is the same at every standard.06What is the Nile dinner cruise?
A two-hour evening cruise on the Nile in Cairo with a buffet dinner and a live show. A private transfer takes you from your hotel and back.07What is not included?
International flights, the Egypt visa, tips for guides and drivers, drinks other than those stated, the interior of the Khufu pyramid, premium tombs such as Tutankhamun's, and travel insurance.08When is the best time to go?
October to April is cooler and the most comfortable for walking around temples. Summers are hot, especially in Luxor, so sightseeing starts early.
