02Overview

A first look

You are already in Sharm El Sheikh, and Egypt's great sites are a short flight away. This four-day tour collects you from your resort hotel, flies you to Cairo and brings you back to the same hotel on day 4.

In Cairo you spend two nights, with Coptic Cairo on arrival, then a full day at the Giza Pyramids, the Sphinx and the Egyptian Museum. On day 3 you fly to Luxor for Karnak Temple and a night in the city. Day 4 is the West Bank, then flights through Cairo back to Sharm. It is a very long final day, and we say so up front. We book every flight and transfer, and you choose the standard of hotel when you book. The sightseeing stays the same.

Field notes

From our Egyptologists

  1. 01

Pack only a small carry-on: with four flights in four days you will pass airport security several times and will want to move fast.

  2. 02

At Giza, walk a little away from the main viewpoint for a photo that frames the Sphinx with the pyramids behind it.

  3. 03

At Karnak, ask your guide to take you to the Sacred Lake after the main columns; it is quieter and good for photos.

  4. 04

Keep your passport and tickets in your day bag on day 4, since the West Bank visit leads straight into the flights back to Sharm.

Tailor it

Make it yours

Choose your hotel standard when you book. Ask us about an extra night in Cairo to avoid the long last day, or a longer stay in Luxor.

All requests handled by your dedicated specialist before booking.

Suited to

Is this for you?

Yes, if

  • Guests on a Sharm El Sheikh vacation who want the pyramids and Luxor in a short break from the resort. Suited to couples, friends and solo travelers who are comfortable with four flights and long days.

Maybe not, if

  • Travelers who need step-free access to every site, or who want a slow pace. Day 4 is very long.

Honest assessment

Real trade-offs from our experience managing this tour.

Highlights

  • Pyramids, Egyptian Museum, Karnak and the Valley of the Kings in four days
  • All four domestic flights and transfers handled for you
  • You start and finish at your own Sharm hotel

Things to Consider

  • Day 4 is very long, with a day of sightseeing and two flights
  • Early starts and a lot of walking on uneven stone
  • A fast pace with little free time

Where it fits

A good fit if you are already in Sharm and want Egypt's major sites quickly. If you would rather avoid the long last day, ask about adding a night in Cairo.

Worth knowing

How this compares

Many Sharm tours stop at Cairo. This one adds Luxor in the same four days, with every flight and transfer booked for you. Hotel standard is your choice; the sightseeing does not change.

Days 3 and 4 are long for young children, with early flights and a late return to Sharm.

Accessibility

Who can join this

This tour involves a lot of walking on large archaeological sites, with uneven stone, sand, steps and narrow tomb passages. Giza, Karnak and the West Bank have long outdoor stretches with little shade. Day 4 is very long, with a day of sightseeing followed by two flights. The vehicles are private and air-conditioned, but we cannot promise wheelchair access at every site. Tell us your needs when you book and we will tell you honestly which parts are suitable.

– Responsible travel

How we travel here

The itinerary uses four domestic flights and private road transfers, and the vehicle type can vary, so we do not claim a carbon saving. Sightseeing is guided by local Egyptologists and arranged through local suppliers in Cairo and Luxor, so much of what you spend stays in the places you visit. We ask guests to carry refillable water bottles and not to touch painted walls in tombs.

  • Licensed Egyptologist guides

State-licensed, and people we have worked with for years

  • Fair wages on the ground

Drivers + guides paid above market

  • Site preservation

We follow the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities' site rules: marked paths, no touching reliefs

  • Local teams, real help

Asked & answered

Frequent questions

  1. 01Where does the tour start and end?
It starts at your hotel in Sharm El Sheikh on day 1 and ends back at the same hotel on day 4. Your hotel in Sharm and your international flights are not part of the tour.
  2. 02Are the domestic flights included?
Yes. Sharm El Sheikh to Cairo on day 1, Cairo to Luxor on day 3, and Luxor to Cairo and Cairo to Sharm El Sheikh on day 4 are booked for you, each with 23 kg of luggage and taxes. International flights are not included.
  3. 03Is day 4 very long?
Yes. You do a morning of sightseeing on Luxor's West Bank, then fly Luxor to Cairo and Cairo to Sharm El Sheikh on the same day. Flight times follow the airline schedule, so you may reach your hotel late in the evening. Do not plan anything for that night.
  4. 04Do you visit the Grand Egyptian Museum?
No. On day 2 you visit the Egyptian Museum at Tahrir Square. The Grand Egyptian Museum is not part of this tour.
  5. 05Will I make my international flight?
Be careful if you leave Egypt on day 4. Domestic and international tickets are separate bookings, so a delayed domestic flight can cost you the connection. We prefer one last night in Cairo. If you must fly to Cairo and connect on the same day, choose a late-evening or night international flight, and take travel insurance that covers missed connections. This tour returns you to Sharm El Sheikh, so if you fly home from there, keep a good margin.
  6. 06Which hotels will we have?
You choose a standard when you book, from budget to luxury, and we name the hotels in Cairo and Luxor for your dates. The itinerary and sightseeing are the same at every standard.
  7. 07Can children do this tour?
Yes, but days 3 and 4 involve early flights, a lot of walking and a late return. Think about how your children cope with long days before you book.
  8. 08What is not included?
International flights, the Egypt visa, tips for guides and drivers, drinks and meals other than those stated, and your Sharm El Sheikh hotel.
  9. 09When is the best time to go?
October to April is cooler and the most comfortable for walking around the sites. Summers are hot, especially in Luxor, so sightseeing starts early.
