The short answer
6-Day Cairo & Hurghada Tour is a 6-day, 5-night trip to Cairo and Hurghada: 3 nights in Cairo and 2 in Hurghada. It includes domestic flights, an Egyptologist guide, entrance fees and transfers. Prices start at $1,418 per person, two sharing (Comfort, October–April).
02Overview
A first look
Six days is enough for Cairo's big sights and a short rest by the sea. You spend two days with an Egyptologist: the Giza Pyramids, the Sphinx and the Grand Egyptian Museum on the first, and Islamic and Coptic Cairo on the second, with the Citadel, the great mosques and the Hanging Church.
After the tour on day 3 you fly to Hurghada on the Red Sea. Day 4 is a boat trip to Orange Bay on Giftun Island for snorkeling and a beach lunch. A flight on day 5 brings you back to Cairo for your last night. We book both domestic flights, every transfer and your hotels. You choose the standard of hotel when you book, and the sightseeing stays the same.

Day by day
Detailed itinerary
6 Days / 5 Nights · Cairo · Giza · Old Cairo · Hurghada · Red Sea
- 1
Your driver meets you in the arrivals hall at Cairo Airport and takes you to your hotel. There is no sightseeing planned today, so you can rest after your flight and get ready for the pyramids tomorrow. No meals are included.
- 2
A full day, about eight hours, with your Egyptologist. You start on the Giza Plateau at the pyramids and the Great Sphinx; the Giza visit takes 4 to 6 hours. Lunch is at a restaurant with a view, and then you go on to the Grand Egyptian Museum. The guide, the entrance fees and the air-conditioned vehicle are included. Your driver takes you back to the hotel for a second night in Cairo.
- 3
A six-hour tour with your private Egyptologist. You visit the Sultan Hassan and Al-Rifa'i mosques, climb to the Citadel of Saladin and the Muhammad Ali Mosque, then cross to Old Coptic Cairo for the Hanging Church and the Church of Saints Sergius and Bacchus. Lunch is in Old Cairo. The guide, the entrance fees and the transport are included.
After that you transfer to Cairo Airport for the one-hour flight to Hurghada and a transfer to your hotel. The airline sets the flight time, so the tour is arranged around it.
- 4
You are picked up at your hotel and cross by motorboat to Orange Bay on Giftun Island. There are two guided snorkeling sessions, with equipment and life jackets provided, and a sunbed on the beach between them. A hot lunch and bottled water are included, and the boat returns you to Hurghada and your hotel.
- 5
After breakfast a transfer takes you to Hurghada Airport for the one-hour flight to Cairo. The airline sets the flight time. You are met on arrival and taken to your hotel. There is no sightseeing planned today, so the rest of the day is yours. The last night in Cairo is deliberate: it is a safety window in case a domestic flight is delayed, so you reach your flight home without stress.
- 6
After breakfast you check out. A private driver takes you to Cairo Airport for your flight home, with luggage help from the transfer representative. Allow plenty of time, as the transfer is planned at about ninety minutes.

Field notes
From our Egyptologists
- 01
Visit Giza early, before midday traffic and stronger sun on the plateau.
- 02
For Old Cairo, wear shoes with grip, the lanes can be uneven and polished in places.
- 03
Khan El Khalili is calmer in the late morning than after sunset.
- 04
Bring a rash guard for Hurghada snorkeling, the water can feel cool on boat departures.
- 05
Keep small cash for drinks and optional purchases, many stalls prefer it.

Many operators sell Cairo and the Red Sea as separate trips. This itinerary joins them in six days, with both flights and every transfer booked for you. Hotel standard is your choice; the sightseeing does not change.

Accessibility
Who can join this
This tour involves a lot of walking on large sites, with uneven stone, sand and steps. The Giza Plateau and the Citadel have long outdoor stretches with little shade, and the mosques and churches in Islamic and Coptic Cairo have steps and narrow doorways. Getting on the motorboat to Orange Bay involves steps. The vehicles are private and air-conditioned, but we cannot promise wheelchair access at every site. Tell us your needs when you book and we will tell you honestly which parts are suitable.
– Responsible travel
How we travel here
The itinerary uses two domestic flights, a motorboat and private road transfers, and the vehicle type can vary, so we do not claim a carbon saving. Sightseeing is guided by local Egyptologists and arranged through local suppliers in Cairo and Hurghada, so most of the money you spend stays in the places you visit. We ask guests to take water bottles that can be refilled and not to touch or stand on coral when snorkeling.

Asked & answered
Frequent questions
01Are the domestic flights included?
Yes. The flights from Cairo to Hurghada on day 3 and from Hurghada to Cairo on day 5 are booked for you and included in the price, with a 23 kg luggage allowance. The airline sets the flight times. International flights are not.02How many nights do we spend in each place?
Two nights in Cairo, two nights in Hurghada and a final night in Cairo, all in hotels with breakfast.03Which hotels will we have?
You choose a standard when you book, from budget to luxury, and we name the hotels for your dates. The itinerary and sightseeing are the same at every standard.04What does the Hurghada day include?
Day 4 is a boat trip to Orange Bay on Giftun Island, with two guided snorkeling sessions, equipment, life jackets, a beach sunbed, a hot lunch and bottled water.05Does the tour include Luxor, Aswan or a Nile cruise?
No. This tour covers Cairo and Hurghada only. For temples on the Nile, ask us about our tours that include a Nile cruise.06What is not included?
International flights, the Egypt visa, tips for guides and drivers, drinks other than those stated, dinner on every day and lunch on days 1, 5 and 6.07Is day 3 tiring?
It is six hours of sightseeing followed by a transfer and a flight. Most guests find it fine, and the next day is a relaxed day on the water.08When is the best time to go?
October to April is cooler and the most comfortable for sightseeing in Cairo. The Red Sea stays warm enough for swimming for most of the year, and summers in Cairo are hot, so sightseeing starts early.09Will I make my international flight?
Domestic and international tickets are separate bookings, so a delayed domestic flight can cost you the connection. That is why this tour ends with a last night in Cairo, which we prefer. If you change that and connect through Cairo the same day, choose a late-evening or night international flight. Take travel insurance that covers missed connections.
