02Overview
A first look
This is a five-hour desert safari from Hurghada. A vehicle collects you at 14:00 (one hour later in summer) and takes you to the safari base, where you get a helmet, a driving briefing and a practice lap. You then ride a quad bike in convoy behind a guide for about one hour, in two legs, followed by a Bedouin camp with tea, bread baked on the fire and a short camel ride. After sunset there is a barbecue dinner and a folklore show before the transfer back. Each rider has a quad bike, or you can share one on request. The minimum age is 6.

Detailed itinerary
- 1
The vehicle collects you at 14:00 from hotels in Hurghada, El Gouna, Makadi Bay, Sahl Hasheesh and Soma Bay. In summer the pickup is one hour later, because the desert is too hot earlier. Our team confirms your time after you send a request.
- 2
At the base you are fitted with a helmet and a scarf, and a guide explains the controls, the convoy rules and the hand signals. Everyone then rides a practice lap. If you are not comfortable after it, tell the guide, who can move you to a shared bike.
- 3
The group rides in convoy behind a guide, about one hour of riding in two legs. The route crosses sand and gravel with views of the mountains. Dust is unavoidable, so keep the scarf over your face, and wear goggles. The guide sets the pace.
- 4
At the camp, you sit with tea, try bread baked on the fire and take a short camel ride. It is a relaxed break after the riding and a chance to ask the camp hosts about desert life. Camel rides here are short and led by a handler.
- 5
As the sun drops, the light on the mountains turns orange and pink. The group stops for photos, usually from a rise near the camp. It is a good time for pictures, so charge your phone before leaving the hotel. The air cools quickly after sunset.
- 6
Dinner is a barbecue at the camp, with soft drinks, tea and water included. After the meal a folklore show is held by the fire. It is a short evening program, and it is cooler outside, so a light jacket helps in winter.
- 7
The vehicle leaves the camp at about 19:00 and drives each guest back to the hotel, usually reaching the first stops by 19:30. Drop-offs follow the pickup order. Shower and wash off the dust. You may feel sand in your hair and clothes for a while.

Asked & answered
Frequent questions
01How does the price work for the quad safari?
The price is per person for a shared group of up to 30 guests. It covers a quad bike per rider, a helmet, the guide, the camel ride, dinner and the show. Children under 2 travel free, ages 2 to 11 pay half and 12 and over pay the adult price, with a minimum age of 6. Prices are provisional.02Do I need experience to ride a quad bike?
No. You get a briefing and a practice lap, and the guide leads the convoy at a steady pace. If you are not comfortable after the practice, you can ride as a passenger on a shared bike, two on one bike, on request. Tell the guide early.03What is the minimum age?
The minimum age is 6. Younger children cannot join this safari. Children who do join wear a helmet, and parents decide whether they ride with an adult on a shared bike. The guide has the final say, and may ask a child to ride as a passenger.04What should I wear?
Wear long trousers, closed shoes and clothes you do not mind getting dusty. Bring sunglasses and a scarf, or buy a scarf and goggles at the base. In winter, bring a light jacket, because the desert cools quickly after sunset. Avoid sandals and loose clothing that can catch.05Can I cancel if my plans change?
More than 72 hours ahead, keep 100% as credit toward future travel or take a 100% refund, less bank charges. Between 72 and 24 hours, keep 100% as credit or take a 50% refund. Within 24 hours, or if you don't show up, there is no refund or credit. If we have to cancel, you lose nothing.06Is the safari private or shared?
It is shared. You ride in a convoy with up to 30 guests behind a safari guide, and you eat dinner at the camp with the same group. The pickup covers several resorts, so the vehicle may collect other guests before you. A private safari can be asked for.
