Aswan sits at the far southern end of Egypt, and Giza is at the northern end of the Nile valley. By road the distance is huge. By air it is a short hop, which is why a day trip is possible at all.
It is a very long day, though, so let us be clear about what it involves.
How the day runs
A private transfer collects you around four in the morning from your Aswan hotel or cruise boat. The flight leaves early and takes about an hour and a half. Your guide and driver meet you at Cairo Airport.
At Giza you see the Great Pyramid, Khafre, Menkaure and the panorama point, then the Great Sphinx and the Valley Temple. After lunch you visit the Grand Egyptian Museum, including the Grand Staircase and the Tutankhamun galleries. In the late afternoon you return to the airport and fly back to Aswan.
How booking works
You book online. We then check seats on the flights for your date and confirm the trip. No payment is taken until we confirm, so you do not risk paying for a day that cannot go ahead.
The price includes return economy flights, transfers in Aswan, the private vehicle and guide in Cairo, entrance tickets and lunch. Flight times depend on the airline schedule on your date.
Who it suits
- Travelers who will not otherwise see Giza
- Nile cruise guests ending in Aswan
- People fit enough for a 4 am start and a late return
If you can add a night in Cairo, you will have a calmer visit and more time at the plateau. This day is for those who cannot.
Who should think twice
Sixteen hours is a lot. Small children, travelers with health concerns and anyone who finds early starts hard may prefer to skip it. If you have already planned a Cairo stay, do not duplicate the visit.
A simple test: if you would feel your Egypt trip was incomplete without the Pyramids, this day delivers them. If you are just curious, you may enjoy more time in Aswan.
How to prepare
Pack light and keep your passport and booking confirmation at hand. You will clear airport security twice, so wear comfortable shoes. A small bag with a hat, sunscreen, a light jacket and a charger is enough.
Eat and sleep well the night before. The transfer leaves while it is still dark, and the day is long. A good night makes a real difference.
On the evening flight home, many guests rest. You land in Aswan late, and a private transfer takes you to your hotel or boat.
If the early start worries you, tell us. We can advise on whether the day suits your group or whether another trip is a better fit.
Our team in Aswan and Cairo checks seats and coordinates the day, so you have one point of contact from the early morning transfer to the evening return. If a date is not possible, we will help you find another.
