The short answer

02Overview
A first look
This is a beach vacation with a plan behind it. You stay five nights in El Gouna, a lagoon resort town about 25 km north of Hurghada, and you never pack a bag in between. We meet you at Hurghada Airport and drive you to your hotel, about an hour away.
Each day after arrival has one outing, then the rest of the day is yours. You spend a day on Paradise Island, a day on Orange Bay at Giftun Island, a day on a boat to Dolphin House, and a short morning on a semi-submarine. The last day is a relaxed morning and the transfer back to the airport. Flights to Egypt are not included.

Day by day
Detailed itinerary
6 Days / 5 Nights · Hurghada Airport · El Gouna · Paradise Island · Giftun Island · Orange Bay · Dolphin House
- 1
A representative greets you after you land at Hurghada Airport and helps you with the first steps. A private car with air conditioning then drives you to your hotel in El Gouna, about an hour away. Nothing else is planned, so use the afternoon and evening to settle in, find the pool or the beach and rest from the journey.
- 2
You are picked up at your hotel for a day of about eight hours on the water. A boat, shared with other guests, takes you out to Paradise Island. You get a sunbed and parasol on the beach, and a guide takes you snorkeling, with a mask, snorkel and fins provided. Lunch, soft drinks and water are served on board. Marine park fees are included.
You return to your hotel in the afternoon, and the evening is free.
- 3
Today you cross by motorboat from Hurghada to Orange Bay on Giftun Island. There are two guided snorkeling sessions, with equipment and life jackets provided, and in between you can relax on a sunbed on the beach. A hot lunch and bottled water are included. The boat brings you back to Hurghada, and you are driven to your hotel. The rest of the day is free.
- 4
Another boat day of around eight hours, shared with other guests. The boat heads for Dolphin House, a reef where dolphins are often seen. They are wild, so we cannot promise you will see them, but the snorkeling is good either way. A guide leads the swim, and you get a mask, snorkel and fins. Lunch on board comes with soft drinks and water, and marine park fees are paid.
Back at your hotel by late afternoon.
- 5
This is the shortest outing, about three hours in total. A semi-submarine takes you out for a two-hour trip, and from below the waterline you watch the reef through the windows. A swim stop lets you get into the water with a mask and snorkel. A soft drink and water are served on board. Your hotel pickup and drop-off are included, so you have the afternoon free for the beach or pool.
- 6
Have breakfast, check out and meet your driver for the drive back to Hurghada Airport, about an hour. A representative meets you there to help you through the first steps. Leave plenty of time before your flight, because the drive can take longer than usual. Your tour ends at the airport.

Field notes
From our Egyptologists
- 01
Wear a long-sleeved rash guard on the Dolphin House day; sun on open water is strong and covers better than repeated sunscreen.
- 02
Bring a dry bag at Orange Bay for towel and phone; beach days on Giftun Island involve sand, spray and boat splashes.
- 03
Head below deck early on the semi-submarine for the clearest reef views; glass-bottom viewing is best when the sea is calm.
- 04
Take a motion-sickness tablet before the Paradise Island boat if you are prone to it; the sea can turn choppy past the harbor.

Suited to
Is this for you?
Yes, if
- Travelers who want a Red Sea beach vacation with a light plan: one excursion a day and the rest of the day free. Suited to couples, friends and families who are comfortable on small boats and in the water.
Maybe not, if
- Travelers who want ancient sites, or who get seasick easily, or cannot swim. Three of the four outings are on boats at sea.
Honest assessment
Real trade-offs from our experience managing this tour.
Highlights
- One hotel for five nights, with no repacking
- Four different Red Sea outings, each with hotel pickup
- Snorkeling gear and marine park fees covered where each outing lists them
Things to Consider
- Days 2, 3 and 4 are long boat days at the mercy of the weather and sea state
- Dolphin sightings are likely but never guaranteed
- No temples, museums or Egyptologist-guided sightseeing
Where it fits
A good fit for a week of beach and reef time with just enough structure. It is not a sightseeing tour, so add Cairo or a Nile cruise if the ancient sites are on your list.
Worth knowing
How this compares
Many Red Sea packages sell the hotel and the boat trips separately. This tour joins them: one El Gouna hotel, transfers and four outings with hotel pickup, paced as one excursion a day with free time. Hotel standard is your choice; the outings do not change.

Children & families
Children are welcome. Please tell us each child's age when you book. Children must wear a life jacket on the boats, and we advise that young children do not snorkel in open water unless they are confident swimmers.
Accessibility
Who can join this
Most of this tour is on boats and beaches. Getting on and off the boats involves a gangway or steps and a moving deck, and the beach days mean walking on sand. Snorkeling needs you to be able to swim or float in a life jacket. Transfers are in a private air-conditioned vehicle. We cannot promise step-free access on the boats. Tell us about any mobility need when you book and we will tell you honestly which outings suit you.
– Responsible travel
How we travel here
The boat trips run on marine park rules, and the Paradise Island and Dolphin House fees we include are marine park fees. We ask guests to use reef-safe sunscreen, never stand on or touch coral, and keep a respectful distance from dolphins. Excursions are run by local operators from Hurghada and El Gouna, so much of what you spend stays on the coast. The trip uses private road transfers and diesel boats, so we make no claim about carbon savings.

Asked & answered
Frequent questions
01How much of the trip is organized?
Day 1 is arrival and day 6 is departure. Each day from 2 to 5 has one outing with hotel pickup, then the rest of the day is free. So the pace is one excursion plus free time, not a full program.02Where is El Gouna?
El Gouna is a lagoon resort town about 25 km north of Hurghada on the Red Sea coast. The transfer from Hurghada Airport takes about an hour.03Which hotel will we have?
You choose a standard when you book, from budget to luxury, and we name the hotel for your dates. The excursions are the same whichever you pick.04Is snorkeling equipment included?
Yes on all four outings. You get a mask and snorkel on each trip, plus fins on the Paradise Island and Dolphin House days and life jackets at Orange Bay.05Will we see dolphins?
Dolphins at Dolphin House are wild. Sightings are likely but never guaranteed. If they do not appear, the reef snorkeling and the boat day are still included.06What if the sea is rough?
Boat trips run weather and sea state permitting. The captain can change or cancel a sailing for safety. If that happens we will help you find another day where one is available.07Do I need to be a strong swimmer?
You should be comfortable in water. Guides lead the snorkeling and life jackets are used at Orange Bay, but you need to be able to swim or float. Tell us if you are nervous.08Will I make my international flight?
The tour ends with a transfer to Hurghada Airport, so allow a generous margin. If you connect onward on a separate ticket through another airport, a delay can cost you the connection. Choose flights with a long layover, and take travel insurance that covers missed connections.09What is not included?
International flights, the Egypt visa, tips, drinks other than those stated, meals not listed, and anything you buy in the resort.
