Day by day
Detailed itinerary
6 Days / 5 Nights · Cairo · Giza Plateau · Egyptian Pyramids
- 1
After landing at Cairo International Airport (CAI), our representative meets you in the arrivals area and assists with the airport-to-Cairo transfer. Your driver follows the route into central Cairo, which is approximately 22 kilometers from CAI, depending on the destination and traffic. Use the journey to settle in and review the next day’s plans with our team.
No sightseeing is scheduled today, allowing time to recover after your flight and adjust to Cairo’s pace.
- 2
Begin with a morning visit to the Giza Plateau, where your guide explains the construction of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, the three main pyramids. At the Great Sphinx, learn how the limestone monument combines a human head with a lion’s body. Continue to the Grand Egyptian Museum, whose collection includes the Khufu Boat and artifacts from ancient Egypt.
Your guide places each site within Cairo’s broader history and explains the practical differences between viewing pyramid exteriors and entering a pyramid interior, which requires a separate ticket.
- 3
In the morning, your guide leads you through the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat, where the Royal Mummies Gallery displays rulers including Ramesses II and Hatshepsut. Afterward, continue to the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square, home to Tutankhamun’s gold funerary mask and artifacts from ancient Egypt’s major dynasties.
Your Egyptologist explains how the collections differ: NMEC presents Egypt’s history across several periods, while Tahrir focuses on archaeological discoveries from pharaonic Egypt. Allow time for walking and museum security procedures at both sites.
- 4
In the evening, meet our team for a Nile dinner cruise departing from Cairo. As the boat moves along the river, you can view illuminated landmarks along the waterfront and see how the Nile divides the city. Dinner is served onboard, followed by a traditional evening show with music and dance. Your guide explains the program and helps coordinate the return transfer after the performance.
The cruise offers a different perspective from daytime sightseeing around the Egyptian Museum and Giza Plateau.
- 5
Your guide leads a morning tour through Cairo’s historic religious districts, beginning at the Citadel of Salah al-Din, founded in 1176, and the Mosque of Muhammad Ali, completed in 1848. In Coptic Cairo, you’ll visit the Hanging Church, dedicated to the Virgin Mary, and Ben Ezra Synagogue, whose present structure dates largely from the 19th century.
The route also includes Al-Azhar Mosque, founded in 970, with time to observe the surrounding streets and architecture. Modest clothing is required at mosques, and some walking takes place on uneven stone surfaces.
- 6
At the scheduled departure time, our driver collects you from your Cairo hotel and transfers you to Cairo International Airport (CAI). Allow extra time for airport security, airline check-in, and possible traffic on the approach roads. Your driver confirms the terminal and helps with luggage before you continue independently to your departure gate.
Cairo International Airport serves the city’s international and domestic flights, with terminals located in Heliopolis, approximately 22 kilometers northeast of central Cairo.
02Overview
A first look
Before Cairo’s streets fully wake, the limestone at the Giza Plateau holds the night’s coolness and the city’s traffic sounds fade behind Khufu’s pyramid. Our Egyptologists guide you through the spaces around the Egyptian Pyramids, then help you read Cairo through its historic streets, museum galleries, and Islamic landmarks, with time to pause rather than rush from one viewpoint to the next.
We arrange the day-by-day sightseeing, private vehicle movements, hotel stay, and site access so the practical details stay out of your way. As a licensed Egyptian tour operator, we provide an Egyptologist guide throughout, with clear explanations and realistic pacing between Cairo and Giza.

Is this for you?

Worth knowing
How this compares
Unlike a short Cairo stopover, this six-day itinerary provides five hotel nights and separate guided days for Giza, Cairo’s major museums and historic religious districts. It is primarily a private land tour with private vehicle transfers; the evening Nile dinner cruise is an included activity arranged with a third-party supplier, not a multi-day Nile cruise.

Children & families
Children of any age may join when accompanied by a responsible adult, but the walking, heat, sand, crowds, and early starts at some Cairo sites should be considered. Child pricing depends on the child's age and the services required, and will be confirmed before booking. Strollers are difficult to use on sand, uneven paving, and steps, so a baby carrier is often more practical. High-chair availability depends on the restaurant or hotel supplier and must be confirmed in advance.
Accessibility
Who can join this
This Cairo tour involves walking on uneven ground, stone paving, sand, steps, and occasional steep or narrow access routes at historic sites. The Giza Plateau has exposed areas with limited shade, while the Egyptian Museum and other urban attractions may involve stairs and crowded entrances. Our private vehicle can usually accommodate guests with limited walking ability, but wheelchair access varies by site and vehicle. Standard wheelchairs may not move easily across sand or ancient stone. Please tell us about mobility requirements before booking so we can confirm practical arrangements with our local team.
