Detailed itinerary
- 1
Your driver and guide meet you at 08:30 at your Aswan hotel or cruise boat and take you to the corniche. Your private motorboat waits there, and the boatman helps you aboard.
- 2
The island holds the ruins of the temple of Khnum and an ancient Nilometer, a stairway used to measure the river's level. Your guide explains how the Nile flood shaped life here. Paths are uneven in places.
- 3
You walk through the village lanes between brightly painted houses. Your guide tells you about Nubian traditions and daily life. Visitors are welcome, and small shops sell crafts.
- 4
The island garden is planted with palms, tropical trees and flowers, collected by a British commander in the 19th century. It is shady, quiet and a good place to cool down. Paths are flat and easy.
- 5
The boat passes the mausoleum on the west bank, which is closed to visitors but is a fine sight from the water. You also pass the granite rocks of the First Cataract. The boatman slows down for photos.
- 6
The boat returns you to the corniche, and the driver takes you back to your hotel or cruise boat at about 12:30. Lunch is not included, and your guide can suggest a place nearby.

The price is per person and goes down as your group gets bigger, because the boat, driver and guide are shared among you. Prices are provisional until our team confirms.02Can we go inside the Aga Khan Mausoleum?
No. The mausoleum is closed to visitors, so you see it from the boat. It sits on the west bank and looks best from the water.03Do we need to swim?
No. The trip stays on the river and the islands, and no swimming is involved. Non-swimmers are welcome.04What should we wear and bring?
Wear light clothes covering shoulders and knees for the villages, and comfortable walking shoes. Bring a hat, sunscreen and cash for tips and small crafts.05What is the cancellation policy?
A cancellation made three days or more ahead is paid back in full. One made inside three days but outside 24 hours is paid back by half. A later one, or a missed pick-up, is not refunded. Tell us early about any change.06Is this trip private, or will others join us?
It is private. Only your own party travels on the boat, and the Egyptologist guides only you. The maximum party size is 8.

Aswan: High Dam, Philae Temple & Unfinished Obelisk Day Tour
This full-day Aswan tour visits the Aswan High Dam, Philae Temple on Agilkia Island, and the Unfinished Obelisk. The Aswan High Dam was completed in 1970. Philae was relocated to Agilkia Island during the 1970s Nubia salvage project. As a licensed Egyptian tour operator we provide hotel pickup, a licensed Egyptologist, lunch, and all standard site entrance fees. We schedule the Philae visit early to avoid the mid-morning tourist boats; unlike many cruise shore excursions, we keep timing flexible so you can photograph and ask questions. Expect walking on uneven ancient stone and limited shade at Philae; bring sun protection and comfortable shoes.

AswanPrivate Felucca Ride on the Nile, Aswan
Private felucca sail on the Nile in Aswan, arranged at your preferred time–sunset, morning, or daytime. We use sail-only feluccas crewed by experienced local sailors; we don't run motorboat group excursions. Unlike motorboat trips, felucca speed depends on the wind; sails are quieter but timing and distance can change. We arrange pickup from your Aswan hotel or Nile cruise berth and provide bottled water; drinks, gratuities, and any onshore entry fees are not included. Limited shade at midday means we recommend morning or sunset sails for comfort. Optional short land stops–Kitchener's Island or a Nubian village–can be added on request.

AswanAswan High Dam & Unfinished Obelisk, Half-Day Tour
This half-day tour visits the Aswan High Dam (completed 1970) and the Unfinished Obelisk in Aswan's northern quarry. You spend about four hours on a private visit with our Egyptologist and driver, typically allowing 45–60 minutes at each site. Standard entrance fees are included. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and we do not cram both sites into a single rushed shore excursion; our timing reduces overlap with large cruise-group movements. Trade-offs: the Unfinished Obelisk has limited shade and uneven quarry surfaces, so bring sun protection and steady footwear. Pickup and return are from Aswan city hotels or the Nile cruise terminal.
