02Overview
A first look
This is a private 4-hour walking food tour in the center of Alexandria. There is no vehicle: you walk with your guide between small places where locals eat, starting at 17:00. You try ful and falafel, liver and sausage sandwiches, grilled fish and seafood rice, then a sweet and coffee in an old café. Your guide orders for you, explains each dish and tells you how the city's Greek, Italian and Egyptian histories shaped its food. Each tasting is small, so you arrive hungry and leave full. The tour finishes on the Corniche at about 21:00, and a taxi back can be arranged on request.

Detailed itinerary
- 1
Your guide meets you at your hotel in central Alexandria or at Saad Zaghloul Square at 17:00. They explain the route and ask about any allergies or foods you avoid. Come hungry and skip a big lunch.
- 2
The first stop is a long-standing counter for ful, the slow-cooked fava bean dish eaten for breakfast across Egypt, with falafel made from fava beans and fresh pickles. You eat standing or at a small table, as locals do.
- 3
A street stall serves the Alexandrian sandwich style, with grilled liver or sausage in warm bread. It is spiced and quick to eat. Your guide offers a milder option if you prefer.
- 4
A walk through the market streets shows you the produce, spices and fish on sale. Your guide points out foods you may not know and explains what they are used for. Streets are busy and lit.
- 5
Near the harbor you sit down for grilled fish and seafood rice, the dish the city is best known for. The fish is chosen fresh. This is the biggest tasting of the evening.
- 6
You finish with rice pudding or ice cream, then coffee or tea in a historic café. Your guide tells stories about the artists and writers who sat in these rooms.
- 7
The walk ends on the seafront at about 21:00. Your guide can help you order a taxi back to your hotel, which you pay for directly.

No. This is a walking tour, and the distances between stops are short. The meeting point is in central Alexandria, and a taxi back can be arranged on request and paid directly.03Can you cater for allergies or special diets?

It is private. Only your own party walks with the guide. The maximum party size is 8, and the pace is yours to set.
