8-Day Hurghada Scuba Diving Vacation
Two guided intro dive days, a beach island, a private boat for your party and a snorkeling trip to Dolphin House. Seven hotel nights and every transfer are included.
The short answer
8-Day Hurghada Scuba Diving Vacation is an 8-day, 7-night trip to Hurghada. It includes transfers. Prices start at $1,051 per person, two sharing (Classic, October–April).
02Overview
A first look
This week is built around the water. You base yourself in one Hurghada hotel for seven nights and head out on a boat almost every day. Two of those days are intro scuba days: you dive with a certified instructor, in full gear, with no experience needed. The other boat days are lighter. You spend one on Paradise Island, one on a private boat with a captain and crew for your party alone, and one snorkeling on a trip to Dolphin House.
The pace is simple. Each day after you arrive has one trip, then the rest of the day is yours for the pool, the beach or a long lunch. The last full day is a half-day look at Hurghada town. We book the hotel, the trips and the airport transfers. You choose the standard of hotel when you book, and the trips stay the same.
Please be clear on one point. Intro dives are a taste of diving, not a certification course, so this trip does not make you a certified diver.

Day by day
Detailed itinerary
8 Days / 7 Nights · Hurghada · Red Sea · Paradise Island · Giftun Island · Dolphin House · Hurghada Marina
- 1
A driver meets you at Hurghada Airport and brings you to your hotel on the Red Sea coast. Nothing else is planned, so use the evening to settle in, find the pool and the beach, and get a good night's sleep before your first boat day. Meals today are not part of the plan.
- 2
After breakfast you are picked up at the hotel and taken to the harbor for a day of eight hours on a dive boat shared with other guests. You make two guided intro dives with a certified instructor. All the scuba equipment is provided, and the crew talk you through it before you go down, so nobody needs any experience.
Lunch, soft drinks and water are served on board and the marine park fees are paid. Back at the hotel the rest of the evening is yours. The boat captain decides whether the sea is safe, and a day can be changed or cancelled for weather.
- 3
Today is a gentler day on the water. A boat shared with other guests takes you out to Paradise Island for about eight hours in all. You have a sunbed and parasol on the beach, a guide for snorkeling, and a mask, snorkel and fins to use over the reef. Lunch is on the boat, with drinks and water. The park fees are covered. Sea state can change plans on the day, so the captain has the final word.
After you return, the evening is free.
- 4
The boat is yours alone today: a captain and crew look after you and your own party for about seven hours, with no other guests on board. A private vehicle brings you to the harbor and back. The trip is built around islands and snorkeling, with a guide, a mask, snorkel and fins, and the pace is yours to set within the sea conditions.
Lunch comes on board with soft drinks and water, and the marine park fees are paid. The captain can alter the route or the day if the weather turns.
- 5
You return to the dive boat for another eight-hour day, and this time you already know the routine. The format is the same as day 2: two guided intro dives with a certified instructor, all equipment supplied, lunch and drinks on board, and park fees included. A second day lets you settle into the breathing and the buoyancy instead of just surviving the first minutes.
It remains an introduction to diving and not a certification. If the sea is rough, the captain can change the day.
- 6
Eight hours on a shared boat to Dolphin House, a reef known for its dolphins. The dolphins are wild. People often see them here, but no one can promise it, and the guide will keep the boat and the swimmers calm and at a respectful distance. You snorkel with a guide and use the mask, snorkel and fins provided. Lunch, soft drinks and water are on board and the marine park fees are paid.
The captain can change or cancel the trip if the sea is unsafe.
- 7
Your last full day stays on land. For about four hours a local English-speaking guide takes a small group by air-conditioned minibus around the marina, a mosque, the old town and a market. Bottled water is included. It is a light morning, so you have the afternoon for packing, a last swim or shopping. Lunch and dinner are not part of the plan today.
- 8
After breakfast you check out and a driver takes you to Hurghada Airport, a transfer of around an hour. Flight times are set by your airline, so we arrange the pickup around your departure. Your tour ends at the airport.

Field notes
From our Egyptologists
- 01
On the intro dive days, tell your instructor early if your ears struggle to equalize, since pausing at shallow depth makes the second dive far easier.
- 02
Pack reef-safe sunscreen and a rash guard for Paradise Island, where the shallow water leaves your back exposed for hours of snorkeling.
- 03
Keep the private boat day flexible: ask the captain to find a quieter reef stop and swim away from the busiest mooring spots.
- 04
Dolphin sightings at the Dolphin House are wild encounters, so stay calm in the water and keep your distance rather than chasing the pod.

Worth knowing
How this compares
Many dive trips sell a certification course or a fixed package. This trip is a gentler alternative: two intro dive days plus snorkeling days, one hotel, and a free afternoon after each trip.

Children & families

Age and size limits on intro dives and on some boat trips are set by the operator, who confirms them when you book. Accessibility
Who can join this
Every trip day involves boarding a boat from a jetty, stepping across a gap and using ladders or steps to get in and out of the water. Dive days also mean carrying or wearing heavy equipment with help from the crew. Sea conditions can make the deck move. Swimming ability is needed for snorkeling and diving. The vehicles are air-conditioned minibuses and the hotel is chosen to your standard, but we cannot promise step-free boarding on every boat. Tell us about any mobility need, medical condition or hearing or sight issue when you book, so we can plan around it.
– Responsible travel
How we travel here
Marine park fees are included in the boat trips, and they go toward protecting the reefs you visit. We ask you not to touch, stand on or take anything from the reef, to keep your distance from dolphins and turtles, and to use sunscreen made for reefs. The trips use diesel boats and road transfers, and their size varies, so we make no claim about carbon savings. Boats, instructors and guides come from local operators in Hurghada, so much of what you spend stays in the area. Please bring a refillable bottle and take your rubbish back to shore.

Asked & answered
Frequent questions
01Do I need to be a certified diver?
No. The two dive days are intro dives for beginners. A certified instructor guides you, the equipment is provided and the crew explain everything before you go in. You do need to be able to swim and to answer a medical questionnaire honestly.02Will I be certified at the end?
No. Intro dives are an introduction, not a diving course, so this trip does not give you a certification. If you want to qualify, tell us and we can suggest a proper course.03Who should not do the intro dives?
People with heart problems, asthma or ear problems, and anyone who is pregnant, should not dive. You fill in a medical questionnaire first, and the dive operator makes the final decision. The operator also confirms any age limits when you book.04What is included on the boat days?
Each boat day includes pickup from your hotel, lunch with soft drinks and water on board, and the marine park fees. Dive days add full scuba equipment and an instructor. Snorkeling days include a guide and a mask, snorkel and fins.05What happens if the sea is rough?
The boat captain can change or cancel a trip for safety, and we will not send a boat out when it is unsafe. If a day is lost we try to move it to another day of your stay. Refunds follow the cancellation terms above and are not promised beyond them.06Will I see dolphins at Dolphin House?
Possibly. The dolphins are wild and they come and go, so sightings are likely at best and never guaranteed. The guide keeps a respectful distance and asks swimmers to do the same.07How busy are the days?
Gently paced. Every day after arrival has one trip and then free time. Boat days run about seven or eight hours door to door, and the city tour is about four hours.08Will I make my international flight?
This trip has no domestic flight, but many travelers reach Hurghada from Cairo on a separate ticket. Domestic and international tickets are separate bookings, so a delayed flight can cost you the connection. We prefer one last night in Cairo. If you must connect on the same day, choose a late-evening or night international flight, and take travel insurance that covers missed connections.09Are international flights and the visa included?
No. The price covers seven hotel nights, the trips listed and the airport transfers. You book your international flights and your Egypt entry visa yourself.
