Luxor Temple is on the east bank of the Nile in central Luxor, within the modern city. Construction began under Pharaoh Amenhotep III in the 14th century BC. The temple was connected to Karnak Temple, approximately 2.5 kilometers to the north, by the Avenue of Sphinxes.
