02Overview

A first look

This is a private four-hour evening tour of Cairo. A driver and guide collect you at 18:30 from your Cairo or Giza hotel. At about 19:15 you go up the Cairo Tower for the view over the city lights. You then drive along the Nile corniche and across Qasr El Nil Bridge, and at about 20:45 you walk into Khan el-Khalili, where the bazaar lanes are busy and lit at night. You finish with tea at a traditional cafe in the bazaar. The driver takes you back to your hotel between about 22:00 and 22:30. Dinner is not included, so you can eat before or after, and your guide can suggest places. You can book online and get instant confirmation.

Background

Children & families

Children's prices are set from the ages you give when you book, and there is no minimum age. The evening ends at about 22:00 and the bazaar is busy, so we suggest it mainly for school-age children who can stay up and walk for a while. Keep young children close in the crowded lanes.

Indicative rates only – pricing and departure fluctuate. Please enquire for live rates on your specific dates.

Asked & answered

Frequent questions

  1. 01How is this private trip priced?
The price is per person, and it falls as the group grows, because the vehicle, driver and guide are shared. It covers the transfers, the guide, the Cairo Tower ticket and tea. Dinner is not included. You see the exact price for your group size when you choose your date.
  2. 02How do I book this trip?
You can book it online and get instant confirmation. Choose your date and group size, add your hotel name, and pay at checkout. You then receive your confirmation and the pick-up time.
  3. 03Is dinner included?
No. The tour includes tea at a traditional cafe, but not a meal. The tour ends at about 22:00, so most guests eat before it starts or after it ends. Your guide can suggest places near your hotel.
  4. 04Will there be a queue at the Cairo Tower?
There can be. The deck is popular in the evening, and a queue at the entrance or at the lift can add some time. Your guide plans the evening around it, but cannot control how busy the tower is.
  5. 05What is the cancellation policy?
If you cancel three days or more before the trip, you get a full refund. If you cancel less than three days but more than 24 hours before, half is refunded. After that, or if you miss the pick-up, there is no refund.
  6. 06Is this trip private, or will others join us?
It is private. Only your own party rides in the vehicle, and the guide is with you alone. The maximum party is 12 people, and you can ask the guide to spend longer at the places you enjoy most.

Salah al-Din Citadel Half-Day Tour, Cairo

This private half-day tour visits the Salah al-Din Citadel and the Mosque of Muhammad Ali in Cairo; it typically lasts three to four hours. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and our Egyptologist outlines the Citadel's 12th-century origins and Muhammad Ali Pasha's 19th-century mosque. We do not run large coach-group itineraries on this route; the tour is private with a driver and car. Unlike visits that focus only on the mosque, we include a walk on the Citadel ramparts and an optional visit to the National Military Museum when open. Expect limited shade at midday, uneven stone underfoot, and a routine security check at the entrance.
