4-Day Nile Cruises
A 4-day Nile cruise is the shortest sailing on the river, three nights aboard, and it still reaches the temples most people fly to Egypt to see. The standard route runs Aswan to Luxor: you board after lunch, sail past Kom Ombo and Edfu, and step off at Luxor with Karnak and the West Bank within reach. It is the segment we slot into a longer Egypt vacation when the days are tight but the river is non-negotiable. Every 4-day cruise here carries a private Egyptologist guide, all temple admissions, full board, and dock transfers, so the headline price is close to the real price.

What is a 4-days Nile cruise?
A 4-day Nile cruise is a four-day, three-night sailing between Aswan and Luxor (or the reverse), covering the core temple run of Philae, Kom Ombo, and Edfu with Karnak and the Valley of the Kings reached on either end. It is the compact version of the classic Luxor–Aswan voyage, built for travelers who want the river without giving a week to it. The route and stops match the longer cruises; what you trade is the slower pace and the smaller, less-visited temples.
Aswan to Luxor
How a 4-day sailing runs
- Day 1AswanBoard after lunch. Philae Temple by motorboat and the High Dam in the afternoon, then a felucca past Elephantine Island at sunset.
- Day 2Kom OmboSail north to the riverside double temple of Sobek and Horus, lit at dusk and reached straight off the gangway.
- Day 3EdfuThe Temple of Horus by horse-carriage at opening, the best-preserved temple in Egypt. Sail on toward Luxor.
- Day 4LuxorDisembark after breakfast. Karnak and the West Bank are yours before the airport or sleeper train.
Direction reverses on Luxor-departure ships. We book the sailing that fits your onward flight, not the other way round.
BudgetAmoura Dahabiya Nile Cruise
Nile (cruise route)
Sail the Nile on Amoura Dahabiya, a small-group Luxor cruise with Full Board meals, quiet moorings, and off-the-beaten-path sites. Enquire now.
BudgetAzhar Dahabiya
Nile (cruise route)
You board at Luxor Nile pier and the crew lifts your luggage aboard while your Egyptologist meets the group and outlines the week. The Azhar is a six-cabin dahabiya – intimate sailing scale, not an ocean liner – and she moves under sail when the wind favors us, otherwise the engine takes us south. Days alternate temple excursions and relaxed river time: morning visits to Luxor and Karnak if you arrive early, the Esna lock as we pass, a deliberate overnight at Edfu so you have two hours ashore, Kom Ombo from the riverbank, and the Philae temple by motorboat in Aswan. Cabins measure 12–16 m² with large windows, private en suite bathrooms and daily cabin service; expect a few companionable steps between decks and narrow gangways rather than elevators. Meals are cooked on board from local produce – breakfast, lunch, dinner included – and the crew serves tea on the aft deck while the river village life slides by. As your Egyptologist I point out relief details at each temple, time inscriptions for photography, and explain why we choose certain moorings (quiet riverbank near a village, or the shelter of the Esna lock). Be aware: Wi‑Fi is available in public areas but signal is patchy; cabins are compact and the schedule asks for early starts on some days. This is slow Nile travel for travelers who prefer detail, calm decks, and temple time without crowds.

Akhnaton Dahabiya Nile Cruise
Nile (cruise route)
Akhnaton Dahabiya is a seven-day Nile sailing between Luxor and Aswan aboard a traditional dahabiya. We provide an Egyptologist for guided shore visits. We arrange embarkation, crew, daily breakfasts and scheduled transfers; standard site entrance fees are included unless stated otherwise (premium tombs and pyramid interiors are excluded). We don't run group bus tours – the dahabiya keeps travel slow, with fewer transfers and more daylight at temples than typical four-night Nile cruises. Expect early starts for sunrise visits, limited shade on deck at midday, and walking on uneven ancient stone during shore visits. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and handle all local logistics.

Minya Dahabiya Nile Cruise
Nile (cruise route)
We operate a 7-day dahabiya sailing between Luxor and Minya, concentrating on Middle Egypt sites such as Beni Hasan, Tuna el-Gebel and Tel el-Amarna. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and our Egyptologists join selected land visits. Distinctive POV: we do not run large motor-ship cruises – the dahabiya anchors close to riverside quays so you disembark directly to provincial sites. Unlike standard Luxor–Aswan cruise schedules, this itinerary schedules two full days ashore for provincial tombs and the Mallawi Museum. Trade-offs: fewer on-board amenities than larger cruise ships, some cabins are compact, and visits require walking on uneven ancient stone. Standard site entrance fees are included; premium tombs and special permits are extra.
MidEsplanade Nile Cruise
The Esplanade sails between Luxor and Aswan, calling at Karnak, Luxor, the Valley of the Kings, Edfu, Kom Ombo, and Philae. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and we arrange meet-and-assist, private modern transfers, and guided excursions with an English-speaking Egyptologist. Excursions run with groups capped at eight guests per Egyptologist, keeping commentary focused and the pace flexible. Onboard meals are full board, and evenings include Egyptian folkloric performances and relaxed time on deck. The itinerary also offers an optional Abu Simbel excursion from Aswan on disembarkation day. Unlike standard mass-market sailings, our shore visits are private, timed to avoid the busiest periods where possible.
BudgetA Sara Nile Cruise
Luxor
A Sara is a Nile cruise operating between Luxor and Aswan, calling at Kom Ombo, Edfu, Luxor West Bank, and Aswan. The route groups short, focused visits so you step ashore for temple quays and return to a calm river mooring each evening. Guided highlights include Kom Ombo's double temple, Edfu's Ptolemaic temple, and Luxor West Bank, where the Valley of the Kings sits alongside Hatshepsut's mortuary temple. An optional Abu Simbel transfer can be added on the Aswan leg. We run these cruises with very small groups, which keeps landings flexible and reduces time spent queuing at sites. Unlike mass-market overnight cruise programs, this itinerary pauses at Edfu and Kom Ombo long enough for proper visits. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and our Egyptologists lead the guided visits.

Nile (cruise route)
Discover Egypt’s treasures aboard the Al Kahila Nile Cruise – a deluxe 5-star journey between Luxor and Aswan with comfort, culture, and timeless elegance.

Royal Amira Nile Cruise
Nile (cruise route)
This 4-day Nile cruise aboard MS Royal Amira runs between Luxor and Aswan with daily guided shore excursions. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator; our Egyptologists lead the site visits and explain temple architecture and tomb contexts. We do not run mass coach tours – our approach avoids the compressed, minute-long shore calls typical of some river operators and gives fuller time at Karnak and Luxor West Bank. Included: standard site entrance fees unless stated otherwise; pyramid interiors and premium tombs are extra. Trade-offs: early starts for temples and limited shade on the open deck at midday; we advise sun protection and sensible footwear.

Liberty Nile Cruise
Nile (cruise route)
Four-day Nile cruise aboard MS Liberty, handled on the ground by a licensed Egyptian tour operator. Typical shore visits include Karnak Temple, Luxor West Bank and either Kom Ombo or Philae depending on sailing direction; check your departure's day-by-day route. We coordinate our Egyptologists, transfers and timing directly with the vessel rather than outsourcing ground handling overseas. Unlike many large-ship packages, we prioritise aligning visits with local opening times and daylight, not merely filling a checklist. Trade-offs: a four-day schedule requires earlier starts and gives shorter time at each site than longer cruises. Ask us for the sample itinerary and cabin options.

Farah Nile Cruise
Nile (cruise route)
Four days aboard MS Farah sail between Luxor and Aswan with guided shore visits to Karnak Temple, Luxor West Bank, Edfu, Kom Ombo and Philae. We include an Egyptologist on every departure rather than a driver-guide; that keeps commentary focused and consistent throughout the cruise. Unlike shared coach day trips, the vessel sails overnight so you gain two mornings ashore and more relaxed transfer times. Trade-offs: cabins are compact, mornings can start early, and walking is on uneven ancient stone at many sites. Standard site entrance fees are included; gratuities and premium tombs are excluded. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and arrange private transfers.

Royal Elite Nile Cruise
Nile (cruise route)
Four days aboard MS Royal Elite sail between Luxor and Aswan with guided shore excursions and all main meals included. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and do not run large coach-group tours; our excursions use private cars or launches and English-speaking Egyptologists. Unlike many packaged 4-day cruises, we time departures and shore visits to reduce queues and waiting at the landing stages. Trade-offs: upper sun deck has limited shade at midday, and shore visits involve walking on uneven ancient stone and occasional early starts. We handle port paperwork, all pick-ups, and can arrange optional Abu Simbel transfers on request.
BudgetAlyssa Nile Cruise
The Alyssa Nile Cruise sails between Aswan and Luxor, calling at Karnak, the Valley of the Kings, Kom Ombo, Edfu, and Philae. We arrange accommodation aboard the Alyssa, and the vessel has a sundeck, swimming pool, spa, fitness area, restaurant, bar, and cabins with Nile views. Our Egyptologists lead all guided visits, and group sizes are small, limited to a maximum of eight participants. We do not run large coach tours; the small-group approach keeps landing parties compact and manageable. Unlike many short-stop itineraries, this cruise allows proper time ashore at Edfu and Kom Ombo, and selected departures offer an optional Abu Simbel excursion. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator, and our Egyptologists time visits to avoid the largest crowds when possible.
BudgetChateau Lafayette Nile Cruise
The Chateau Lafayette Nile Cruise sails between Aswan and Luxor, calling at Philae, Kom Ombo, Edfu, Karnak, and Luxor Temple. We offer 4- and 5-night programs that combine guided archaeology with relaxing time on the sun deck. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and we arrange transfers, meet-and-assist, and English-speaking Egyptologist-led visits. We run small-group guided excursions rather than large coach tours, which keeps time at the sites focused and unrushed. Unlike day-trip itineraries that return to a land base each evening, this cruise sleeps between Edfu and Kom Ombo so you visit the temples at quieter times. Onboard facilities include a sun deck, pool, restaurant, bar, and evening folkloric entertainment, with daily complimentary bottled water and all service charges included.

Unlike many three-night budget cruises, this itinerary includes both Edfu and Kom Ombo with fuller visit times. Standard site entrance fees are included; premium tombs (Tutankhamun, Seti I) and gratuities are excluded. Expect early starts, strong sun at midday and some walking on uneven ancient stone during excursions. We time visits to reduce waits where possible rather than running large coach-group schedules.

Kleos Nile Cruise
Nile (cruise route)
MS Kleos is a four-day Nile cruise between Luxor and Aswan with daily guided shore visits to major temples and tombs. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and our Egyptologists lead every scheduled visit. We arrange private transfers and Egyptologist-guided shore programs rather than audio-only ship excursions. Unlike many cruise-ship shore schedules that rush sites, our pacing gives fuller time at Karnak and on the Luxor West Bank. Expect early starts and substantial walking on uneven ancient stone; strong sun and limited shade are common at sites. Standard site entrance fees are included; pyramid interiors and premium tombs (Tutankhamun, Seti I) are excluded unless requested. Abu Simbel flights, extra hotel nights, and gratuities can be added on request.

Moondance Nile Cruise
Nile (cruise route)
MS Moondance is a 4-day Nile cruise linking Luxor and Aswan with Egyptologist-led shore visits. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and assign our own Egyptologists and drivers rather than outsourcing guides. Typical calls include Karnak Temple, Luxor West Bank (Valley of the Kings), Edfu Temple, Kom Ombo Temple, and Philae on Agilkia Island. Unlike hotel day trips, the cruise moves you overnight between cities, reducing repeated baggage transfers. Trade-offs: there are early starts for key sites, walking on uneven ancient stone, and limited shade on deck at midday.

Nile Serenity Nile Cruise
Nile (cruise route)
MS Nile Serenity is a four-day Nile cruise operating between Luxor and Aswan, visiting Luxor West Bank, Karnak Temple, Edfu, Kom Ombo, and Philae. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and arrange your cabin, private transfers, and a licensed Egyptologist for every departure. Unlike many operators that compress visits into short stops, the ship conducts overnight transits to reduce daytime transfer time. We do not run large coach-group excursions from the ship; shore groups are kept small to improve walking flow at temple sites. Trade-offs: expect early mornings, limited shade at midday, and walking on uneven ancient stone. Premium tombs (Tutankhamun/Seti I) and gratuities are not included.

Sun Times Nile Cruise
Nile (cruise route)
A four-day Nile cruise aboard MS Sun Times between Luxor and Aswan with Egyptologist-guided shore visits. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and we operate the logistics on the ground, including airport pickups and private transfers to and from the ship. We don't run large coach tours; instead we schedule longer visits at Karnak Temple and the Luxor West Bank to avoid rushed shore time. Unlike fast-turnaround day trips, this cruise includes full visits to Edfu and Kom Ombo without hurried drives. Standard site entrance fees are included; pyramid interiors, premium tombs, and gratuities are excluded. Expect early starts, walking on uneven stone, and limited shade at sites.

Tulip Nile Cruise
Nile (cruise route)
You board mid-afternoon at the Luxor Nile Corniche pier, a ten-minute walk from Luxor Temple, and settle into MS Tulip’s river-view cabin. I meet you on deck and walk the promenade to point out the Nile’s changing light as we cast off and slip south. Day two begins early on the West Bank: the Valley of the Kings (expect uneven steps and dim tomb chambers), Hatshepsut’s terraced temple at Deir el-Bahari, and the Colossi of Memnon. We pass through the Esna lock in the late afternoon; engines hum and the ship rises with the water – a practical moment, not a show. Edfu’s temple requires a short transfer from the pier by carriage or shuttle; plan about 90 minutes on-site. Kom Ombo’s double temple sits right on the riverbank; we moor there for a one-hour visit. In Aswan we tie up on the city corniche opposite the market; I take you to Philae by motorboat, the High Dam viewpoint, and the Unfinished Obelisk in the granite yard. Cabins are Nile-cruise scale – compact, river-facing rooms with en-suite bathrooms and climate control – not ocean-liner suites. Meals are full board in the dining room; breakfasts are early and packed when an excursion leaves before dawn. Expect clear, practical guiding: I read the reliefs with you, show construction details at Karnak, and flag the best light for photos at each temple.

Lady Carlo Nile Cruise
Nile (cruise route)
MS Lady Carlo is our privately chartered motor vessel, sailing between Luxor and Aswan over four days with guided shore visits. As a licensed Egyptian tour operator, we arrange private transfers, on-board meals, and our Egyptologists for guided visits to Karnak, the Valley of the Kings, Edfu, Kom Ombo and Philae. Distinctive POV: we prioritise longer on-site time at Edfu and Kom Ombo rather than brief drive-by stops common on mass-market overnight cruises. Comparison: unlike many cruises that limit Edfu to 90 minutes, our itinerary allocates a full morning ashore. Trade-offs: expect early starts, walking on uneven ancient stone, and limited shade at mid-day temple courtyards. Standard site entrance fees are included; pyramid interiors and premium tombs are excluded unless requested.

Sonesta Nile Goddess Nile Cruise
Nile (cruise route)
MS Nile Goddess is a 4-day Nile cruise operating from Luxor with guided shore visits to East and West Bank monuments. We operate this cruise as a licensed Egyptian tour operator and run Egyptologist-led, private shore excursions rather than coach-based group stops. Typical calls include Karnak, Luxor Temple and Luxor West Bank (Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut); northbound sailings often visit Edfu and Kom Ombo. We handle all private transfers, embarkation formalities and daily briefing by our Egyptologists. Trade-offs: expect early starts, walking on uneven ancient stone, and limited shade at midday ashore.

Magic II Nile Cruise
Nile (cruise route)
A four-day Nile cruise aboard MS Magic II, with onboard accommodation and guided shore visits in Upper Egypt. We operate MS Magic II as a licensed Egyptian tour operator and arrange our Egyptologists, private transfers and timed site entries so you avoid ticket queues. We do not run group bus tours on this vessel; shore visits are scheduled and staffed by our guides. Compared with seven-night cruises, a 4-day option covers core Upper Egypt highlights with less time ashore and earlier mornings. Expect early starts, some uneven ancient stone underfoot and limited shade on temple esplanades; bring sturdy shoes and sun protection.

The Oberoi Philae Nile Cruise
Nile (cruise route)
Four days aboard MS The Oberoi Phiale sail the Nile between Luxor and Aswan with guided visits to Karnak, Luxor West Bank, Edfu, Kom Ombo and Philae. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator; we meet you with private transfers, and an Egyptologist accompanies shore visits. We prioritize time ashore and guided exploration rather than onboard spectacle. Unlike larger hotel-style Nile ships, this itinerary schedules dawn or late-afternoon visits to reduce crowds and midday heat. Trade-offs: some visits require early starts, many temple approaches have uneven stone and stairs, and evenings ashore are limited in smaller towns. Standard site entrance fees are included unless stated; premium tombs, hot-air balloon flights, and private transfers to Abu Simbel are optional extras.

Ruby 1 Nile Cruise
Nile (cruise route)
MS Ruby 1 is a four-day Nile cruise operated by a licensed Egyptian tour operator. Typical 4-day itineraries run between Luxor and Aswan and commonly include Karnak Temple and the Valley of the Kings; confirm your ship’s exact calls when you book. We arrange private, Egyptologist-guided shore excursions rather than fixed coach schedules, so visits can be timed to avoid the busiest moments. Trade-offs: a four-day cruise concentrates highlights into fewer days, which usually means early starts and less time ashore at some sites. We handle transfers, embarkation logistics, and optional visits to premium tombs on request.

The Oberoi Zahra Nile Cruise
Nile (cruise route)
A four-day Nile cruise aboard MS The Oberoi Zahra, booked through our licensed Egyptian tour operator. We provide private transfers and an Egyptologist to accompany shore visits. Unlike mass-market 4-night boats, we do not bundle coach tours; we confirm each ashore stop and pacing with you before travel. Trade-offs: expect early starts for some crossings and occasional quay congestion at Luxor or Aswan. Standard archaeological site entrance fees are included unless otherwise stated; premium tombs (Tutankhamun, Seti I) and pyramid interiors are excluded. Tell us your travel dates and cabin preference and we will confirm availability and the detailed ashore program.

Nile Premium Nile Cruise
Nile (cruise route)
MS Nile Premiums is a 4-day Nile river cruise operated by a licensed Egyptian tour operator. We arrange cabins, full-board meals, private transfers, and daily shore excursions led by our Egyptologists. We do not run large coach-group sailings; every excursion is led by our Egyptologists and organised with private transfers. Unlike shorter 3-night, tightly timed cruises, this 4-day format allows unhurried visits to Luxor West Bank and Kom Ombo when the itinerary includes them. Trade-offs: expect early starts, long ashore walks on uneven ancient stone, and significant sun exposure on open decks and temple forecourts.
MidMedea Nile Cruise
Nile (cruise route)
You board at Luxor's Nile pier and meet your Egyptologist on the gangway. We walk straight to Karnak's Hypostyle Hall for a measured tour before the midday heat, then stop at Luxor Temple as lights come up after dusk. MS Medea runs a four-day, southbound route from Luxor to Aswan on a classic river scale: cabins are roughly 12 m² with river-view windows and modest storage – comfortable, not ocean-liner spacious. We pass through the Esna lock in late afternoon; expect the engine noise for 10–20 minutes while the gates close. The schedule gives two hours at Edfu's Temple of Horus by design – most cruisers skimp on this site, so we moor overnight to allow a calmer visit. On arrival in Aswan we visit Philae by motorboat, see the High Dam from the causeway, and disembark at Aswan pier after breakfast. Your Egyptologist handles commentaries, timings, and the short walks on uneven stone; I advise sensible shoes and a small daypack. Meals are full board on board; breakfast, lunch, and dinner follow a mix of local and continental dishes. Bar charges, gratuities, and optional extras sit outside the itinerary. If you want a hot-air balloon over the West Bank, tell me in advance – it means an extra early start and an added fee. This cruise suits travelers who prefer unhurried temple visits, steady river sailing, and clear daily plans.

BudgetLe Fayan Nile Cruise
Nile (cruise route)
Board MS Le Fayan at the Luxor Corniche pier and step aboard a compact Nile cruise that runs four days downriver to Aswan. I guide the shore excursions myself when available; we move with the light – morning visits to the Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut's temple when tombs are coolest, late-afternoon walk through Karnak's Hypostyle Hall if crowds thin. Cabins are Nile-cruise size and practical, with private en suite bathrooms and wardrobe space; this is intimate, not an ocean liner. Each afternoon you sit on the shaded sun deck and watch feluccas, fishermen and river markets pass close to the bank. We stop at Edfu and Kom Ombo for temple walks; plan on 60–90 minute shore calls in Edfu and a short market visit at Kom Ombo's quay. In Aswan we moor on the Corniche and arrange the motorboat transfer to Philae Temple. Meals follow local rhythms: breakfasts and lunches on board, an evening of grilled fish when the catch is good. Note practical details up front: luggage transfers use the pier gangway, mobile signal is patchy between Nile bends, and some tombs require extra-permit fees. If you like quiet mornings in old temples and direct commentary from an Egyptologist, this four-day downriver cruise keeps logistics simple and the day-to-day focused on sites and sunlight.

MidSonesta Moon Goddess Nile Cruise
Nile (cruise route)
You board at the Luxor Nile cruise terminal and settle into three nights aboard the Sonesta Moon Goddess. I walk you through the West Bank at first light–Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut–so soft morning sun reads the painted reliefs better and tour groups are thinner. After lunch you cross the Esna lock; the lock passage and crew work take about 30–45 minutes. The vessel cruises south through stretch-views of date-palms and small river farms, stopping at Edfu for a focused 90–120 minute visit to Horus’s temple, then at Kom Ombo to read the dual sanctuaries carved for Sobek and Haroeris. In Aswan we make time for Philae island by motorboat and the quarries with the Unfinished Obelisk. Cabins are river-cruise scale–compact and functional, with en suite facilities and daily housekeeping–not ocean-liner space. Meals are full board on board; breakfast, lunch and dinner follow a mix of international and local dishes, and bottled water is replenished daily. Expect early starts and warm midday sun; dress in layers for morning tombs and bring comfortable walking shoes for uneven stone surfaces. I brief the route each evening so you know timings for the next day’s temple visits, transfers to the pier, and any optional extras like a felucca ride in Aswan. This schedule balances on-board cruising time with practical walking time at each site to let inscriptions and architectural details register properly.
MidEsmeralda Nile Cruise
The Esmeralda Nile Cruise sails from Luxor to Aswan, calling at Karnak, Luxor West Bank, Edfu, Kom Ombo, and Philae. This Classic-tier, five-star vessel suits travelers who prefer relaxed days ashore and time on deck. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator, and we arrange Egyptologists, transfers, and embarkation formalities for the cruise. We don't run group bus tours. Unlike many rushed itineraries, this Luxor to Aswan route allows longer stops at Edfu and Kom Ombo rather than 60- to 90-minute drop-ins. Note: sun and heat intensify on the open deck at midday, so early-morning visits and sun protection are practical considerations.
BudgetSteigenberger Legacy Nile Cruise
Nile (cruise route)
You board at Luxor's Nile pier on the East Bank and step aboard MS Steigenberger Legacy. The cruise runs three nights between Luxor and Aswan; luggage handling and cabin assignment take 30–45 minutes after arrival. Cabins average 16 m² – Nile-cruise scale, not an ocean‑liner – with twin or double bedding and a large picture window for river views. You sail south through the Esna lock; the vessel waits to transit when schedules permit and the landscape tightens to sandstone banks. Scheduled guided visits with an Egyptologist include Karnak and Luxor Temple near embarkation, then Edfu and Kom Ombo as you work toward Aswan. Plan for roughly 90–120 minutes at Edfu for the best reading of the reliefs; Kom Ombo is a briefer stop for the twin‑god reliefs and the small crocodile museum. In Aswan the ship moors at the Nile Corniche near the town center; Philae Island is the usual half‑day visit by motorboat. Meals are full board on the ship: breakfast, lunch and dinner presented in the main dining room, with simple regional dishes and international options. The sun deck serves as the day’s viewing platform for the West Bank ridge at dawn and for late‑afternoon light. Expect compact public spaces – lounge, shaded sun deck, and observation area – and personalised service from on‑board staff. Note limited lift access and modest cabin storage. Your Egyptologist guides the monument visits, explains sculptural details and hieroglyphs, and our local office in Luxor supports practical arrangements or last‑minute changes.

BudgetMövenpick Royal Lily Nile Cruise
Nile (cruise route)
You board the MS Royal Lily at the Aswan Nile quay; I meet you on the main deck to run through safety, timeline and the week’s sites. The five-day cruise sails north from Aswan to Luxor on a five-star river cruiser; cabins measure approximately 18–22 m² and most have river-view windows or French balconies–this is intimate river scale, not an ocean liner. After an early lunch we visit the Aswan High Dam and the Unfinished Obelisk on the East Bank, then return for the short sail to Philae and the granite causeway to the Temple of Isis when water and current permit. The vessel makes a daytime stop at Kom Ombo for a guided tour of the double temple of Sobek and Haroeris, with on-site explanations of the paired chapels and crocodile cult finds. We moor overnight at Edfu so you have a calm morning visit to the Temple of Horus–this gives the temple the two-hour visit it needs rather than a rushed stop. On Luxor’s West Bank the coach drops at the Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut’s mortuary temple; expect uneven stone, steps and short walks. The cruise finishes with Karnak’s Hypostyle Hall and an afternoon at Luxor Temple before disembarkation at the Luxor quay. Onboard facilities include a shaded sun deck, small plunge pool and a salon with panoramic windows; daily briefings by your Egyptologist explain what to look for in reliefs and layout. Practical note: entrance fees, gratuities and domestic flights are not included.
BudgetTower Prestige Nile Cruise
Nile (cruise route)
Board the MS Tower Prestige at Luxor's Nile pier; I meet you on deck and point across the river to Karnak's pylons. We set a steady rhythm: early-morning visits to the West Bank (Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut, Colossi of Memnon) before the coach tours arrive, an afternoon passage through the Esna lock, and an overnight mooring at Edfu so the Horus Temple receives a proper two-hour visit. Cabins are Classic Nile-cruise scale–roughly 12 m² with en-suite facilities and modest storage–suitable if you pack light. The sun deck gives shaded and open seating; the dining salon serves full-board meals prepared to local taste and timed around excursions. Expect straightforward service from a local crew; the vessel is Classic tier, not a five-star floating resort: there is no spa or gym, Wi‑Fi is patchy, and power can dip briefly when the generator switches. I guide every excursion: I explain the ritual passages at Karnak, point out tomb decoration styles in the Valley, and time our visits so light and crowd levels work to your advantage. Sailing between Luxor and Aswan keeps most travel on daylight hours; you live the riverbank–fishing feluccas, sugarcane fields, village children waving–rather than long overnight crossings. We disembark in Aswan with guided visits to Philae, the High Dam, and the Unfinished Obelisk. If you prefer more space or luxury amenities, ask about our higher-tier vessels; the MS Tower Prestige is compact, direct, and focused on the monuments.
Practical questions
What travelers ask about this style of tour.
01Is 4 days enough for a Nile cruise?
Four days, three nights aboard, is enough to reach every headline temple between Aswan and Luxor: Philae, Kom Ombo, Edfu, and Karnak. What you skip is the slower pace and the smaller sites like El Kab and Esna that the longer sailings fold in. If your overall Egypt trip is seven to ten days with Cairo included, a 4-day cruise is the right-sized river segment.
02Which direction is better, Aswan to Luxor or Luxor to Aswan?
Aswan to Luxor is the more common 4-day direction and the one we recommend. You sail downstream with the current, the temple sequence builds toward Karnak as a finale, and you finish in Luxor with onward flights and the sleeper train both close at hand. Luxor-departure ships sail the same stops in reverse.
03What is included on a 4-day Nile cruise?
All our 4-day cruises include a private Egyptologist guide, every temple and site admission, full board on the ship, and transfers between the dock and the airport or station. Drinks outside meals, gratuities, and the optional Abu Simbel flight from Aswan are separate. The from-price you see is per person sharing a cabin.
04Can I add the Valley of the Kings to a 4-day cruise?
Yes. On an Aswan-to-Luxor sailing the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut's temple, and the Colossi of Memnon are done as a half-day on the morning you disembark in Luxor, before you fly out. We hold the guide and vehicle for you so the West Bank is covered without adding a day.
