02Overview
A first look
Morning light moves across the Nile as the Movenpick Hamees Nile Cruise leaves the riverbank, with tea in the lounge bar, a panoramic view from your cabin, and the changing banks unfolding beyond the windows. Between sailing days, our Egyptologists lead shore excursions from Luxor and Aswan to Karnak, Luxor Temple, Edfu, Kom Ombo, Philae, and the Valley of the Kings. You can read on the sun deck, dine in the restaurant, or watch village life pass quietly from the river.
The vessel sails weekly in both directions between Luxor and Aswan, so we can match embarkation and disembarkation to your Egypt plans. Discovery Tours Egypt, a licensed Egyptian tour operator, selects and arranges the cruise, with your cabin, sailing schedule, and shore-excursion details confirmed before departure.

This vessel works more than one stretch of the river. The direction changes the order of the temples, the number of nights and which city you fly out of.

Accessibility
Who can join this
The vessel and its excursions require a moderate level of mobility. Boarding and disembarkation typically use gangways with steps and handrails; some ports have ramps but not all. Cabins are accessed by internal staircases on many boats, and only a limited number of vessels have elevator access to all decks. Shore excursions include uneven ancient stone, narrow tomb passages, steep steps and sandy surfaces, for example at the Valley of the Kings and Philae Temple. Wheelchair users should notify us at booking so we can request a suitable cabin and arrange assistance, but full independent wheelchair access cannot be guaranteed on every vessel or at every site. Service animals are accepted with advance notice. If you require a wheelchair-accessible cabin or specialised assistance, please contact us before booking so we can confirm availability and make necessary arrangements.
– Responsible travel
How we travel here
We work with cruise lines and on-the-ground suppliers that prioritize local procurement and lower-impact transport. Shore excursions use modern, air-conditioned coaches supplied by local Egyptian transport companies, typically Mercedes or MAN models fitted with GPS and emission controls. On board, vessels generally operate on mains electricity while in port and generator power while sailing, and we encourage partners to follow fuel-efficiency maintenance schedules. Catering sources fresh produce from regional markets in Luxor and Aswan where available, which supports local farmers and reduces food miles. Housekeeping follows a linen and towel reuse program when offered by the vessel, and single-use plastics are limited where the cruise line has alternatives. Port fees, crew wages and local guide contracts are paid to Egyptian suppliers, which directs revenue to local communities. If you have specific sustainability requirements, tell us at booking and we will request supplier confirmations.

Children & families
Children 0 to 5.99 years travel free; children 6 to 11.99 years pay 50% of the adult price; children 12 years and older pay the full adult price. Children must share a cabin with their parents, with a maximum of one child per cabin. Two or more children require their own cabin. Cots are subject to availability on board and should be requested at booking. Strollers are practical on the vessel but can be cumbersome at some embarkation points and archaeological sites where there are steps and uneven surfaces.
Prices by sailing
Prices are per person in USD, from 2 people sharing a double cabin. Each price covers the full sailing, the guided sightseeing programme along the route, and your arrival and departure transfers between the vessel and the local airport or railway station.

Cleopatra Nile Cruise
Embark in Luxor and disembark in Aswan aboard the Cleopatra Nile Cruise, visiting Karnak, Luxor Temple, Valley of the Kings, Edfu, Kom Ombo, and Philae. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and we arrange private guided visits led by our Egyptologists, plus transfers from the quay. Days combine guided temple visits, relaxed sailings past riverside villages, and an Aswan felucca ride around the Nile islands. We focus on small-group guiding and guided commentary by our Egyptologists rather than generic coach-group narration. Unlike some shorter cruises that stop briefly, this route allows more time ashore at Edfu and Kom Ombo so you can study reliefs and inscriptions without rushing.
