What is a multi-day Egypt tour, exactly?

A multi-day Egypt tour is one trip that covers the full Egyptian arc – Cairo and the Pyramids, the Nile Valley temples at Luxor and Aswan, ideally a 3-to-7-night Nile cruise between them, and on longer shapes a Red Sea decompression at the end. Eight days is the most-booked length. Ten days is the calmer pace. Fifteen days is the proper holiday.

Everything we sell is private – your group only, your own Egyptologist guide, your own driver, your own car. Internal flights (Cairo–Luxor, Aswan–Cairo, Cairo–Hurghada), all admissions, the cruise, the hotels, the transfers all bundle into one price. International flights from the US are separate. So is travel insurance, which we strongly recommend.

Below are the six shapes that cover ninety per cent of what Americans book. Then the by-length and by-style explorers. Then the honest questions. Then us.

Honest answers

Seven questions every American asks before booking.

  1. 01 How long should an Egypt tour be?

Seven days (6 nights) is the most-booked length and covers Cairo, Aswan, a 3-night Nile cruise to Luxor, and Abu Simbel. Eight days adds a fourth cruise night sailing from Luxor. Ten days lets you add a Red Sea extension or move at a calmer pace. Twelve to fourteen days unlocks Alexandria, the White Desert, or both. Anything shorter than 5 days and the flights start to outweigh the time on the ground.

  2. 02 How much does an Egypt tour cost?

Private 7-day Egypt tours start around $1,315 per person at 5-star with Nile cruise included. Mid-range (4-star hotels, 5-star ship) runs $2,200–$3,500 pp for 7 days. Premium (Oberoi/Sanctuary tier ships, suite hotels) is $4,000–$6,500 pp. Add 25–35% for Christmas, New Year, and US spring break weeks. International flights are separate.

  3. 03 Is a Nile cruise included in an Egypt tour?

On most multi-day Egypt tours from 7 days up, yes – the cruise is the southern segment between Luxor and Aswan. Land-only Egypt tours exist and we sell them, but the Nile cruise is the experience most first-time visitors come for. The choice is cruise (5-star ship, 100-200 guests, fast) vs dahabiya (6-12 guests, traditional sail, slow).

  4. 04 Is Egypt safe for American tourists in 2026?

Yes. Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, the Nile cruise route, and the Red Sea resorts are all rated Level 1 (Exercise Normal Precautions) by the US State Department. We avoid the specific regions flagged at higher levels (North Sinai border, Libyan frontier) – those aren't on any tourist itinerary anyway. 24/7 support from Egyptian offices.

  5. 05 When is the best time to visit Egypt from the US?

October through April. Daytime temperatures 65–80°F, dry, low humidity. November to February is peak (Christmas/NY sell out 6 months ahead). Spring break in March/April aligns to one of the best weather windows. July and August in Upper Egypt are 105–115°F – we don't run southern itineraries those months by default.

  6. 06 Do I need a visa for Egypt?

Yes for US passports. Easiest: the e-Visa (visa2egypt.gov.eg, $30, single entry, 3–5 business days). Or use our arrival visa service at Cairo airport ($35) – your stamp is ready when you land. Passport must be valid 6+ months beyond entry date. We include full visa guidance in your booking confirmation.

  7. 07 Can you customize the itinerary?

Every Egypt tour we run is fully customizable. Move days around, swap accommodation tiers, add hot-air balloon over Luxor or scuba diving in Marsa Alam, replace Cairo with Alexandria, extend the Red Sea segment. Tell us the constraints (window, headcount, budget, must-sees), receive a tailor-made itinerary within a working day.
