New York is the easiest US city to fly nonstop to Egypt – daily EgyptAir from JFK Terminal 4, daily United from Newark, and Delta returning to JFK in April 2026. Three nonstops, three premium cabins, three frequent-flyer programs to play with.
JFK vs Newark for Egypt
Three points of difference matter:
- Carrier: EgyptAir, Delta (Apr 2026) and Turkish all fly from JFK; United is the only nonstop from Newark.
- Terminal: EgyptAir uses JFK Terminal 4 (Sky Club access via Delta One, EgyptAir lounge for Star Gold). United uses EWR Terminal C with the Polaris Lounge for business class. Turkish uses JFK Terminal 1 with the Turkish Lounge (one of the best at JFK).
- Connections: If you're connecting from another US city, EWR is much easier for United domestic feed; JFK is better for Delta and American domestic.
For a typical leisure traveler living in Manhattan or Long Island, JFK and EWR are roughly equivalent – taxi or train is 45–60 minutes to either from Midtown.
Delta returning JFK–CAI April 2026
Delta announced the JFK–CAI nonstop will resume April 2026 with A330-900neo equipment, 5× weekly. The route was discontinued in 2001 after 9/11 and has not flown since. The return puts Delta One suites on the route – currently the best forward-cabin product across the Atlantic from JFK.
For SkyMiles members and Amex Platinum holders this is genuinely material; for everyone else it's a third option that should keep EgyptAir and United fares honest.
Premium cabin: what to book
- Best total experience: Qatar QSuite via Doha – fully enclosed quad suite, the best forward cabin in the air. 95,000 AAdvantage miles one-way JFK–CAI in J. Total journey 17h including layover at Hamad – itself one of the world's top airports.
- Best schedule and shortest total time: EgyptAir nonstop. 70,000 United miles one-way in business (when available). Cabin is solid but not class-leading.
- Best soft product: Delta One suite (from April 2026). Pricing TBD; expect 85,000–95,000 SkyMiles one-way.
- Best Star Alliance value: Lufthansa via Frankfurt at 73,000 Aeroplan miles in business. Total 14h 30m.
